Technical Specifications
Experience the convenience of touchless lighting with the Skydance EB Hand Sweep Sensor LED Controller, model SK-EB(C). This intuitive motion sensor switch for LED lights uses a focused infrared beam to detect a simple hand gesture, allowing you to turn lights on and off without physical contact. It's the perfect solution for kitchens, bathrooms, or workshops where hands are often wet or messy. Unlike broad-range PIR detectors, the EB sensor's precise 10cm activation zone prevents accidental triggering. The controller also features an elegant soft-start and soft-stop function, gradually fading the light on and off for a comfortable, high-end effect. If you're deciding on the right control method, our guide on how to choose LED strip light controllers can provide more insight.

Key Features

Touchless Hand Sweep Control

An integrated IR sensor provides reliable, hygienic, hands-free on/off switching with a simple wave of the hand.

Focused Detection Zone

A precise detection range of 10cm and a narrow 15-30° angle prevent accidental activation from general movement in the room.

Simple Integration

Comes with a 1-meter (3.28ft) wire, providing ample length to position the compact sensor discreetly for a clean installation.

Versatile Application

Ideal for adding automated, gesture-based control to single-color LED lighting in cabinets, closets, workbenches, and displays.

Technical Highlights

  • Utilizes infrared (IR) proximity sensing for accurate gesture detection.
  • Functions as a toggle switch: one sweep ON, a second sweep OFF.
  • Compact sensor head for easy, low-profile mounting.
  • Directly controls low-voltage LED strips (check datasheet for ratings).

Application Scenarios

Under-Cabinet Kitchen Lighting Install under kitchen cabinets for effortless, hygienic control. Turn lights on to illuminate your countertops with a simple wave, even when your hands are wet or covered in flour.
Workshop & Garage Task Lighting Add convenient, touch-free activation to task lighting over workbenches. No more fumbling for a switch with greasy hands or while holding tools.
Closet and Wardrobe Automation Place inside a wardrobe or walk-in closet. A quick wave of the hand as you reach for clothes is all it takes to activate the light, making it easy to see and select your outfits.

How to Install & Use This Hand Sweep Sensor

  1. Choose a mounting location for the sensor head, such as the underside of a cabinet, ensuring the detection area is clear.
  2. Securely mount the sensor in place using appropriate hardware (not included).
  3. De-energize your power source. Connect the output from your DC power supply to the INPUT terminals of the controller, ensuring correct polarity (+ to +, - to -).
  4. Connect your single color LED strip lights to the OUTPUT terminals of the controller, again matching polarity.
  5. Double-check all connections are secure, then restore power to the system.
  6. Test the functionality by waving your hand within 10cm of the sensor. The light should fade on. A second wave will cause it to fade off.
⚠ Precautions
  • CRITICAL: Before installation, consult the EB(C) datasheet in the Downloads section to confirm the controller's specific input voltage and maximum load (Amps/Watts).
  • Ensure your power supply voltage and the total load of your LED strips do not exceed the controller's specifications to prevent damage.
  • This is a low-voltage DC device. Never connect it directly to high-voltage AC mains power.
  • The sensor may be affected by strong ambient IR sources or direct sunlight. Install away from such interference for best performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between this hand sweep sensor and a PIR motion sensor?

A:This hand sweep sensor requires a deliberate gesture within 10cm to activate. A PIR sensor detects body heat and movement from a much larger distance, turning on automatically when someone enters the area.

Q: How do I turn the light on and off?

A:Simply wave your hand once under the sensor to gradually turn the light on. Wave your hand a second time to gradually turn it off. It functions as a toggle switch.

Q: Can I adjust the dimming speed?

A:The gradual on/off dimming speed is a pre-set feature of the controller and is not user-adjustable.

Q: Will this work with RGB or tunable white LED strips?

A:This is a single-channel controller designed specifically for single color LED strip lights. It cannot be used to control multi-color or CCT strips.

Q: What voltage power supply do I need?

A:The specific voltage (e.g., DC 12V or 24V) and maximum current ratings are detailed in the product datasheet, available for download on this page. Always match your power supply and LED load to the controller's specifications.

Q: Is the sensor head waterproof?

A:This sensor is designed for indoor, dry locations. It is not waterproof and should not be exposed to moisture or liquids.

Q: Can I extend the 1-meter sensor wire?

A:While it may be technically possible, we do not recommend extending the sensor wire as it could affect performance and reliability. Please plan your installation around the provided 1-meter length.
