Product Information

The double-row SM16703 DC12V addressable RGB LED strip light delivers dynamic pixel chasing across 120 LEDs per meter with 30 individually controlled pixel zones per meter. Operating on a DC 12V circuit, each external SOP-8 SM16703 driver IC manages a 4-LED segment along a 20mm wide flexible circuit board, consuming 19W per meter (95W total per 5m roll).

Because the SM16703 driver IC uses standard single-wire NRZ timing identical to the WS2811 protocol, this pixel LED ws2811 compatible tape synchronizes directly with any standard or programmable SPI micro-controller. Available in three ingress protection choices including indoor bare-board IP20, silicone-sleeved IP67 and IP68, this dream color LED strip light meets architectural and stage requirements.

Key Features

WS2811 Timing Protocol Compatibility

Uses the external SM16703 SOP-8 driver IC, matching standard 800 kbps single-wire WS2811 signal timing for seamless connection to addressable dream color controllers.

120 LEDs and 30 Pixels per Meter

Houses 600 SMD 5050 RGB diodes per 5m reel grouped into 150 addressable pixel zones, providing fluid animations without dark spots.

12V Constant Voltage Architecture

Runs on DC 12V with four LEDs wired in series per IC segment, 5-meter per reel.

33.33mm Precise Cut Intervals

Features dedicated copper solder pads every 33.33mm (every 3 LEDs), allowing exact field trimming to match custom display dimensions.

Application Scenarios

Entertainment Venue and Nightclub Pixel Ceilings Mounted directly inside recessed ceiling channels or drop grids, this 120 LEDs/m pixel led SM16703 strip produces sharp chasing waves and audio-reactive sweeps across dance floors, lounges, and stage backgrounds.
Architectural Facade and Bridge Accentuation Selected with the IP67 or IP68 silicone tube option, the strip withstands exterior rain and dust while mapping fluid color movements along architectural parapets, bridge railings, and structural columns.
Linear Fixture Integration in Aluminum Profiles At 20mm wide, this addressable LED strip fits into standard LED aluminum channels with diffusers to create dot-free custom linear fixtures for hospitality reception counters and gaming stations.
Exhibition Booths and Event Stage Lighting With SM16703/WS2811 protocol compatibility, lighting programmers connect this tape directly to DMX-to-SPI decoders or Art-Net pixel node controllers to synchronize dynamic lighting effects with main stage consoles.

How to Install & Use This LED Strip

  1. Select an appropriate DC12V power source capable of delivering at least 114W per 5m reel to ensure a 20% operating safety margin.
  2. Inspect the directional signal arrows marked on the FPCB; connect the 3-pin JST input connector to your SPI controller (DIN to Data, GND to Ground).
  3. Connect the red DC12V wire and black GND wire directly to the 12V power supply output terminals, avoiding drawing drive current through the controller circuit board.
  4. For runs extending past 5 meters (16.4ft), inject DC 12V power at both ends of each subsequent strip to eliminate voltage drop and prevent color shifting at the tail.
  5. If custom lengths are needed, cut strictly along the copper cut pads positioned every 33.33mm using sharp electronics shear cutters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can this SM16703 LED strip work with standard WS2811 controllers?

A:Yes, the SM16703 IC uses the identical high-speed 800 Kbps single-wire NRZ transmission timing and 24-bit RGB protocol defined by the classic Worldsemi WS2811 datasheet, ensuring 100% plug-and-play compatibility with WS2811 systems.

Q: Can this LED strip be cut, and where are the cut marks?

A:Yes, this strip can be cut every 33.33mm (every 3 LEDs) along clearly printed copper cut lines with scissor icons, allowing exact resizing to suit your project installation requirements.

12V Double Row SM16703 Addressable 5050 RGB LED Strip 150 Pixels

LED Strip Light Guide

Common questions about this type of product, answered against this model’s own options. For full figures see the specification above or the spec sheet for this model.

Which controller does this LED strip light need?
Addressable LED strip lights take a data signal, so they need an SPI (pixel) controller that supports this IC — an ordinary RGB controller will not drive them. Data flows one way: connect the controller to the input end marked with the arrow. Wiring addressable LED strip lights
Do I need power injection?
5 V addressable LED strip lights lose voltage fastest, so longer runs need power fed in at both ends and at intervals along the run; 12 V and 24 V versions carry further. Keep the data line short between controller and first pixel. Choosing an addressable LED strip light
Which waterproof rating should I choose?
Available on this model: Outdoor Silicone Tube IP67 - Adhesive Back · Underwater IP68 - Adhesive Back · Non-Waterproof IP20 - Adhesive Back. IP20 is for dry indoor use, IP65 handles splashes, IP67 suits outdoor and wet areas, IP68 is for continuous submersion. Choosing a waterproof rating
Can I cut it to length?
Yes. Cut only on the marked cut lines between the copper pads — the cut interval for this model is on its spec sheet. Rejoin with solder or a solderless connector. Cutting LED strip lights · we can also cut to length and fit your connector before shipping: custom LED strip light assembly.
What size power supply do I need?
Take the watts per metre from the specification above, multiply by the length you are running, then add about 25% headroom. Power calculation guide · Choosing a power supply
Will it fit an aluminium profile, and how dense are the LEDs?
PCB width 20mm (0.79in). Choose a profile whose inner width is at least the PCB width; denser LEDs give a smoother line close to a diffuser. LED aluminium profiles
