Why 24V, 36V & 48V Matter for Long Outdoor Runs
The higher the system voltage, the lower the current required for the same power: Current = Power ÷ Voltage
For example, a 240W LED strip load requires approximately: 20A at 12V, 10A at 24V, 6.67A at 36V, 5A at 48V.
This lower current can help make LED cable selection, power distribution, and long-run wiring more manageable. However, the higher voltage only helps when the entire lighting system—including the LED strip, controller, connectors, amplifiers, and other components—is designed for that voltage.
For a long outdoor installation, the complete system may look like: AC Power → Waterproof Mean Well Power Supply → Waterproof Controller → Outdoor LED Strip
For very long runs, add appropriate power injection and distributed power connections to manage voltage drop. The power supply's total wattage alone does not determine how evenly the LED strip will perform along the entire installation.

If you need 0-10V control, make sure you order a 'B' type and one of our compatible 0-10V controllers.
That's a classic design trade-off. Using one large 600W power supply means fewer AC connections to waterproof and a potentially simpler layout.
