LED Toe Kick Lighting

Toe Kick Lighting is a type of lighting that is installed at the bottom of kitchen bathroom cabinets, underneath furniture or objects, or next to stairs. It emits a soft glow from underneath, creating a defined silhouette at the base of furniture or architectural elements, playing an important role in safety and aesthetic value.

Toe kick light gives indoor furniture, architectural structures, or outdoor objects a more visible presence, making it clear where they are at a glance to avoid toe kicks. Installing toe kick lights underneath cabinets and underneath beds can create a floating feel, adding a modern and futuristic touch to your home decor.

LED tape is the preferred choice at Toe Kick Lighting for its flexibility, ease of installation, and energy-efficient attributes. Its customizable nature allows for precise matching of the exact dimensions of the space it illuminates.

The led toe kick lighting method that blends directly into the wall is a hidden solution during the construction phase of the house. Embedding skirting baseboard led channels with built-in strip lights into tiled or plastered drywall is practical and unobtrusive. Tile floors don't want to have point light reflected by LEDs can be optically optimized using aluminum extrusion profiles as housings.

Pairing toe-kick lighting with motion sensor is a more energy efficient and smarter way to automatically turn lights on and off by detecting your movements.

Frequently Asked Questions About LED Toe Kick Lighting

Got questions about your toe kick project? You're in the right place. I've answered thousands of these over the years, and here are the most common ones that come up right before an order.

To get a perfectly smooth line of light with no hotspots, you want a COB (Chip on Board) LED strip. Instead of individual bright chips, a COB strip has hundreds of tiny LEDs under a continuous layer of phosphor. The result is a completely uniform, dot-free glow that looks fantastic reflected on tile or polished concrete floors. Our FCOB strip lights are the top choice for this exact application.

For any toe kick run longer than about 16 feet (5 meters), you should absolutely be using 24V LED lighting. A 24V system can run twice the distance of a 12V strip with the same amount of voltage drop. This means more consistent brightness from end to end and lets you use thinner, easier-to-hide wires. We stock very few 12V strips over 5m for exactly this reason.

Yes, and it's a great setup for navigating the kitchen or bathroom at night. It's a simple wiring job: the motion sensor just goes between the power supply and the LED strip. When you walk into the room, the lights fade on gently, and then turn off after you leave. We have plenty of low-voltage PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors that are small and easy to hide under the cabinet overhang.

The number one way is to start with a COB or FCOB strip, which are naturally dotless. If you're using a standard SMD strip, the trick is to pair it with the right channel. Use one of our aluminum profiles with a frosted cover. The deeper the channel and the more opaque the cover, the better the diffusion will be. This combination gives you a clean, professional look and protects the strip.

They're two different ways of making a strip. SMD (Surface Mount Device) uses individual, spaced-out LED chips, which can create visible dots or 'hotspots'. An fcob led 24v strip (Flip Chip on Board) uses tiny, tightly packed LEDs covered by a silicone coating, creating a perfectly seamless line of light. For toe kicks, especially with reflective floors, FCOB is the superior choice for a high-end, clean look.

For a bedroom, the best LED light strips are usually warm and dimmable. Look for a CCT around 2700K to 3000K for a cozy, relaxing glow. COB strips are perfect here for creating that soft, floating-bed effect with no distracting hotspots. You don't need intense brightness, so a lower-wattage strip paired with a simple remote dimmer is an ideal combination for setting the right mood.

Yes, absolutely. A huge part of our business is building custom-length LED strip lights for projects. If you need a 6ft LED strip light, or a 6 foot 3-inch one, we can do it. Just send us your requirements—strip model, exact length, and what kind of wire or connector you need on the ends. We'll send back a complete parts list and quote, usually within 12 hours. There's no fee for the consultation and no obligation to order.
