LED Lighting Project Builder

How this works
Answer a few questions about your LED lighting project. This builder works out the waterproof rating, the total load, the power supply size and the parts that fit. At the end you can send the brief to the SuperLightingLED team, or take the parts list and order it yourself.
  • Nothing is ordered or charged from this page.
  • Not sure about an answer? Choose Not sure and tell us in your own words.
  • Several runs, or a loop, an L or a U? Add each run with its shape, and we plan the feed points and the supplies.

Where are the lights going?

Pick the closest match. If none fits, choose Something else and tell us.

What colour light do you want?

This is what the strip can do. A colour-changing strip shows one colour at a time along its whole length; only an addressable strip shows different colours at once.

What kind of addressable strip?

Addressable strips are not one product. The IC decides the effects you can run, the controller you need and what happens when one LED fails.

What shape is each run, and how long?

A run is one continuous piece of strip. The shape matters as much as the length: it decides where the power goes in, how many feed points you need and how many power supplies.

Which kind of power supply?

Everything on one circuit must share a voltage: strip, controller and power supply. The waterproof rating of the supply follows where it will sit, not where the strip is. We mark the one that suits your answers.

How does the supply connect to mains?

A plug needs a socket close by. Outdoor and ceiling installs often have none, so the supply is wired straight into a junction box or a spur. That is normal, and it is what hard wired means.

How do you want to join the strip?

Solderless is the easy route. Soldering is thinner and stronger if you are comfortable with it, or we can solder the leads for you before shipping.

How are they mounted?

A channel or a silicone cover protects the strip, spreads the heat and decides what the finished line looks like. This is also where you choose the neon look.

Which installation accessories do you need?

A working install needs more than strip, controller and supply. We mark the ones your answers point to; tick anything you want quoted. All of these are in stock.

This is what your answers add up to. Check it, then either send it to us or take the parts list to the shop.

Two ways to finish

Not sure? Send it to usThe SuperLightingLED team reads the brief, picks the exact models, checks that they work together and sends you a cart to pay. On the next page you can attach photos or drawings as well (PDF, JPG or PNG, up to five files).Send this brief to our team →
Know what you need? Order it yourselfUse the parts list above and check out in the normal way. Before a SuperLightingLED order ships we power the strip up, check the parts work together, and email you if anything looks wrong.Browse the matching products →
