01 — Kitchen
Kitchen: the room where LED strip earns its keep
Kitchens want task light where you work and soft light where you sit. The classic combination is a dot-free COB LED strip under the wall cabinets, a warm line under the island, and a cove or above-cabinet glow for the evening.

Under-cabinet task lighting
Mount a 10 mm recessed or surface profile with a frosted cover along the underside of the wall cabinets, 5–8 cm back from the front edge so the light hits the worktop, not your eyes. 3000 K for warm kitchens, 4000 K if the worktop is white or grey.

Island toe-kick and cove
A single-colour LED strip under the island plinth floats it off the floor; the same strip in the ceiling cove gives an indirect wash. Use 24 V so both runs can share one power supply without a dim end.
IDEA 03
Above-cabinet glow
Strip laid on top of the wall cabinets, facing up, bounces off the ceiling. Nobody sees the strip, only the glow. Pair with a dimmer so it can drop to a night light.

Inside glass or open shelving
A slim profile on the front edge of each shelf, cover facing down, lights the shelf below without a hot spot. Warm white for wood, neutral for glass and white.

Motion-sensor toe-kick night light
A PIR sensor in the plinth switches a low-level strip on when someone walks in at night and off again after a minute. No switches to find in the dark.
02 — Living room
Living room LED strip ideas: indirect light and a bit of colour
The living room is where tunable white and a little RGB pay off: warm and low for a film, neutral and brighter for reading, colour for a party. Hide the strip in a cove, behind the TV or on top of a bookcase.

Ceiling cove
A recess around the ceiling edge with a 24 V strip inside gives the softest light a room can have. Feed from both ends on runs over 10 m, and choose tunable white if you want to change the mood by time of day.

TV backlight that follows the picture
An addressable LED strip around the back of the TV with a sync controller mirrors the colours on screen and takes the glare off a dark room. 5 V is fine for a TV, 12 V for a projector wall.

Bookcase and display shelves
The same shelf trick as the kitchen, in warm white and dimmed. Every shelf gets its own short strip joined to one power supply behind the unit.

Wall grazing with a recessed profile
A recessed profile in the ceiling right next to a textured wall (stone, slats, plaster) throws light down the surface and makes the texture pop. Use a narrow beam cover.

Baseboard and floor line
A skirting-board profile with a strip inside turns the floor edge into a night path. Dim to warm makes it feel like candlelight after dark.

In an open-plan space, use a different colour temperature for the cooking zone (4000 K) and the sitting zone (2700–3000 K). The eye reads the two zones as separate rooms.
03 — Bedroom
Bedroom LED strip ideas: warm, low, and easy to switch off
Bedrooms need the warmest light in the house and a way to have almost none of it. Cove light for the evening, a sensor strip under the bed for the night, and a headboard gradient if you like colour.

An addressable LED strip behind the headboard on a wall-mounted profile gives a slow colour drift or a fixed warm glow. Use a controller with a phone app so you can set scenes from bed.

Under-bed motion night light
A strip under the bed frame with a motion sensor lights the floor when your feet touch it, and switches off after a minute. Amber or 2700 K so it does not wake you.

A short strip on a profile inside the top of the wardrobe, on a door sensor, lights the rail and shelves. Neutral white so colours look true.

Tunable white in the cove lets you read at 4000 K and wind down at 2700 K from the same strip. Set a schedule in the app and the room does it by itself.
04 — Bathroom
Bathroom LED strip ideas: mirror light and waterproof lines
Bathrooms need IP65 or better and a light around the mirror that flatters, which means high CRI and no shadows. Everything low voltage, power supply outside the wet zone.

Backlit mirror
A strip on the back of the mirror, 3–5 cm in from the edge, throws an even halo on the wall. CRI 90+ and 4000 K make faces look right; add blue accent in a niche if you like a spa feel.

Slim profiles let into the grooves of wooden or stone wall panels turn the whole wall into a soft light source. Use IP65 LED strip and seal the ends.

Shower niches and floating shelves take a short IP67 LED strip on a mini profile. Keep it on its own dimmer so the main light can be off.

05 — Stairs and hallways
Stair and hallway LED strip ideas: light that follows you
Stairs are the single most popular LED strip project in our orders. A kit puts a short strip under every tread and a sensor at each end; the steps light one after another in the direction you walk.

Choose the number of steps and the tread length, and the kit arrives with the strips cut, the controller and the power supply. Install takes an afternoon.

If you do not want the chasing effect, a plain warm white strip under each tread on a small profile is quieter and just as safe at night.

Recessed profiles outlining door frames or running the length of a hallway ceiling make a corridor feel like a gallery. Tunable white if it doubles as a night path.
06 — Home office and gaming
Home office and gaming LED strip ideas: light for screens
Screen rooms need bias light behind the monitor to reduce eye strain, and a little colour if you want the gaming look. Everything on the desk runs from one 24 V supply.

A 6500 K strip on the back of the monitor, dimmed to about the brightness of the screen, cuts eye strain in the evening. Neutral white if the room is warm.

A suspended or surface profile over the desk gives even task light; a strip under the desk edge floats it. Use a wall dimmer or an app controller.

Pixel effects and light tubes
Addressable LED strip in a diffuser tube, or pixel tubes on the wall, run chases and rainbows from a small SPI controller. WS2815 for anything over a couple of metres.
07 — Outdoors
Outdoor LED strip ideas: rooflines, decks, gardens and pools
Outside, use IP67 or IP68 LED strip, seal every cut, and keep the power supply indoors or in a rated enclosure. Permanent roofline lights are the fastest-growing outdoor project we ship.

Addressable IP67 LED strip in a track under the eaves: white all year, any colour for the holidays, all from a phone. Feed power every 5 m and keep the data line in one direction.

Deck, railing and garden path
Warm white or RGB IP68 LED strip under a handrail or along a deck edge marks the path without glare. Use waterproof connectors and a profile to protect the strip from feet.

IP68 LED strip along the pool coping or under the edge of a water feature, on a 24 V supply well away from the water. Never submerge a strip that is not rated for it.

A few LED strip ideas that are just for fun
LED neon flex is a strip inside a silicone tube: bendable, dot-free, and safe at 24 V. It makes words, shapes and outlines that used to need a glass neon shop.

Bend the tube to your outline, clip it to a backing board, seal the ends and wire it to a small power supply. We thread the strip into the tube for you if you buy both from us.

3. Decide how you will control it
Wall dimmer (TRIAC-dimmable supply), a 2.4 GHz remote, or a Wi-Fi app with Alexa and Google. Colour-changing and tunable strips need a controller with the right number of channels; addressable LED strips need an SPI controller.
