Variable White LED Strip Light Kits

6 products

When you know you want white light but can't decide on the exact shade, our Variable White LED Strip Light Kits are the solution. Unlike a single color LED strip kit that's locked into one color temperature, these kits let you adjust the light anywhere from a warm, cozy 2700K to a crisp, cool 6000K. Our CCT LED tape kits are purpose-built to produce high-quality, high-CRI white light across the entire spectrum, giving you much better accuracy and nuance for white tones.

These are complete, plug-and-play light kits. You don't need to source a separate power supply or controller and worry about compatibility. Every box includes the tunable CCT LED strip, a remote controller designed for it, and the correct 12V or 24V power adapter. This eliminates the most common installation headaches and ensures everything works perfectly right away. We offer kits with traditional SMD chips like the 2835 or 5050, as well as newer COB (Chip-on-Board) versions for a completely seamless, dot-free line of light.

FAQ About Variable White LED Strip Light Kits

Got questions before you buy? I've answered thousands of them over the years. Here are the most common ones I get for our tunable white kits.

COB (Chip on Board) variable white LED strip kits give you a completely seamless, dot-free line of light, which is great for surfaces with high reflection like quartz countertops. An SMD (Surface Mounted Device) strip, like a 5050 or 2835, has visible LED chips. You can hide the dots with a deeper channel and a frosted diffuser, but COB is dotless right out of the box. For pure light output, a high-density SMD strip might be brighter, but for looks, COB wins. You can learn more in our guide to COB strips.

Yes, you can cut these CCT strip lights. Look for the copper pads with a small scissor icon printed on the strip itself—that’s your cut point, usually every 25mm to 100mm depending on the model's voltage. Just use a sharp pair of scissors. Once cut, the leftover piece can be used too, but you'll need to solder new wires or use a solderless connector to power it up again. Don't cut anywhere else or you'll damage that whole section of the strip.

Yes, they're great for that. Our CCT strips are excellent diy leds for model kits, dioramas, or PC case mods because you can fine-tune the white light to look like daylight or interior lighting. You'll likely want a narrower strip, maybe 5mm or 8mm wide, and you'll be cutting it into very short segments. This means you'll need to be comfortable with some fine soldering to attach the wires. A 12V strip is usually easier to work with for these small-scale projects.

If you wire a tunable white strip directly to a power supply, both the warm white and cool white LEDs will turn on at 100%, giving you a neutral white around 4000K-4500K with no control. The CCT controller is the brain. It has two output channels and lets you independently adjust the brightness of the warm and cool LEDs. By mixing their intensity, you create any color temperature from 2700K to 6500K. Without the controller, you lose the 'variable' part of the kit.

Yes, we do this all the time. A huge part of our business is building custom kits that never even appear on the website. Just send us a sketch of your kitchen cabinets or bookshelves—even a photo of a drawing on a napkin is fine. We'll figure out the exact lengths of tunable white strips needed, solder on the lead wires, and pair it with the right size power supply and controller. An engineer sends back a full parts list and quote, usually the same business day, with no fee and no obligation to buy.
