This is the most important step. First, find the watts-per-meter (or foot) for your LED tape. Multiply that by the total length of your run in meters. That gives you the total watts your lights need. Now, add a 20% safety buffer—so multiply your total watts by 1.2. Choose a power adapter with a wattage rating equal to or, even better, slightly higher than that final number.
That's a common point of confusion. 'Green' here has nothing to do with the color green or the forward voltage of green LEDs. It refers to the adapter's high energy efficiency. These are MeanWell 'Green Power' adapters, meaning they meet strict international standards (like Level VI) for low power consumption when they're idle and high efficiency when they're running. It just means less electricity is wasted as heat.
A class 2 LED power supply is defined by a specific safety standard (UL1310 in the US) that limits the output to under 60VDC and 100VA.
