It's all about how they talk to each other. WiFi downlights connect directly to your router, which is simple but can clog your network. Bluetooth Mesh creates a local network between lights, which is reliable but has limited range. Zigbee is the standout for smart homes—it creates a separate, low-power mesh network that's super stable and won't slow down your WiFi. 

For Zigbee models, yes. You'll need a Zigbee 3.0 compatible gateway to connect them to your network and control them with an app or voice assistant. This is standard for any Zigbee device. Our Bluetooth Mesh downlights also need a Bluetooth gateway for voice control. The big advantage of a hub is that it keeps your lighting network separate and much more reliable than clogging up your home WiFi router with dozens of individual lights.

Yes, every one of them. Dimming is built into the smart controls, so you don't need a separate wall dimmer. You can adjust brightness from 0.1% to 100% right from the app, a remote, or with your voice. It's a core feature of what makes them 'smart'. 

It means you get total color control from a single light. 'RGB' gives you 16 million different colors—reds, greens, blues, purples, you name it. 'CCT' stands for Correlated Color Temperature, which lets you adjust the white light from a warm, cozy 2700K tungsten look to a cool, crisp 6500K daylight. RGB+CCT downlights give you both vibrant color for scenes and high-quality white light for everyday tasks. 

Only if the specific model is rated for it. Most of these are for indoor, dry locations. For a bathroom, especially near a shower, you need something with at least an IP44 rating. For outdoor soffits or exposed areas, you'd want IP65. We have one waterproof model in this range, the FUT082ZR, and a whole separate category of LED waterproof downlights designed specifically for those wet and damp environments.

The most common reason is a weak wireless signal. If you're using WiFi models, they might be too far from your router or you might have too many devices on your network. This is exactly why we recommend Zigbee. A Zigbee network is a 'mesh', meaning each light acts as a repeater, strengthening the signal for the next light. This creates a much more robust and reliable system, especially in larger homes.

Yes, the models listed as AC 100-240V are designed for this. They have an integrated driver, so you connect your home's line, neutral, and ground wires directly to the downlight's input. It makes for a much cleaner install than having to find a place to hide a separate power supply for every single light in your ceiling.
