The COB LED brightness is higher because the chips are packed into a single surface, creating an intense, uniform line of light instead of separate dots. For high-impact architectural lighting, a multi-row super bright COB LED tape light will beat a standard SMD strip every time. That said, for many accent jobs, our 2835 SMD strips are still a perfect fit.

That’s classic voltage drop, and it's the #1 killer of big LED installs. It's not a faulty strip; it's just physics. For any run longer than 5 meters (about 16 feet), you should use a 24V or 48V strip and consider powering it from both ends to keep the brightness even. 

Yes, it's normal for them to get hot, and that's precisely why you MUST install them in an aluminum channel. The channel acts as a heat sink, pulling heat away from the LEDs. If you stick a 100W/m strip directly to a wood surface, it will overheat, shorten its lifespan dramatically, and could become a hazard. Don't skip the channel.

You can easily perform a brightness adjust on any single-color bright COB light by adding a dimmer between the power supply and the strip itself. We have simple dial, remote, and smart Wi-Fi controllers that do this. The wall switch controls the power supply, and the low-voltage dimmer module controls the strip's intensity.

You sure can, but only at the designated cut points. Look for the copper pads, usually marked with a little scissor icon, that run across the full width of the strip. They're typically spaced every 50mm or so. Cut anywhere else and you'll break the circuit for that entire section.

Always go with 24V for a super bright COB LED tape light running that long. A 24V system pushes current more efficiently over distance, allowing you to run roughly twice the length of a 12V strip before voltage drop starts to dim the far end. For very long commercial jobs, we even use 48V.

That's a great question, and the honest answer across the entire lighting industry is 'not always'. There can be tiny variations between production runs, called 'binning'. If you're doing a large installation where strips will be near each other, always order the full quantity at once. We can then ensure your entire order comes from the same production batch for perfect consistency.

You can expect an L70 lifespan of 50,000 hours, meaning it will still have 70% of its initial brightness after that time. But this is completely dependent on proper heat management. Install it correctly in a suitable aluminum profile, and it will last for years. Run it without one, and you could see it fail in months.

Yes, but not directly. The Lutron dimmer must be connected to a compatible TRIAC-dimmable LED power supply. The wall dimmer controls the 120V AC input to the power supply; the power supply then outputs the low-voltage DC to dim the strip. If you wire a 120V dimmer straight to a 24V strip, you will kill it instantly.
