Got a question before you order? I've probably answered it a hundred times. Here are the most common ones that come up for our BendPro series.
It turns a standard LED strip into a durable, dot-free neon-like light. The key is the built-in plastic sheet that protects the strip's circuit board from damage when you bend it into shape. This is the single biggest failure point for DIY neon projects, and our BendPro series is designed to prevent it from happening.
This is where most people get stuck. Tie a strong, thin string to the end of your LED strip. Feed the string through the silicone diffuser first, then gently pull the strip through. The smooth surface of the anti-break plastic sheet also makes it easier to thread the light strip through. If you purchase both our diffuser and light strip, we can assemble the neon sign for you free of charge.
Match the diffuser's 'max PCB width' spec directly to your LED strip's width. For example, a 10mm wide strip needs a silicone diffuser for 10mm PCBs. Trying to force a 10mm strip into an 8mm diffuser will wreck it, and putting an 5mm strip into a 12mm one will let it swim around and look off-center.
The dotless look depends on LED density. A sparse strip, like 60 LEDs/meter, might still show faint hot spots in any diffuser. For a perfectly smooth line of light, you need a high-density strip with at least 120 LEDs/meter. Or, for the absolute best result, use a COB strip. You can learn more in our guide to COB strips.
You're not actually bending light, but you are guiding it in a flexible housing. The silicone allows you to shape the entire fixture—LED strip and all—into curves. The internal anti-breakage sheet in this flex tape light diffuser is what lets you create those sharp, artistic bends without snapping the strip's delicate circuit board.
They are not the same, and it's a critical difference for any outdoor job. 'Weather resistant' means it can handle splashes, rain, and UV exposure. Our silicone diffusers are rated IP67, which means the tube itself is waterproof. However, for the whole installation to be waterproof, you *must* seal the end caps properly with silicone glue. An unsealed end is an open door for water.
For the most secure and professional-looking result, use the dedicated mounting clips made for each profile. While you can use an adhesive, don't just grab any double-sided tape. You'd need a high-bond exterior-rated tape, like a 3M VHB product. But honestly, clips are always the safer, more permanent bet, especially on outdoor or uneven surfaces.
You should plan for a light loss of about 30-40%, depending on the thickness and color of the silicone. This is a normal trade-off for getting that smooth, dotless look. Always account for it by starting with an LED strip that's a bit brighter than you think you'll need.
Not ours. We use a high-grade, UV-stabilized silicone designed for architectural use. Cheaper diffusers made from PVC or low-quality silicone will absolutely yellow and become brittle over time, sometimes in less than a year. That's one of the key differences you pay for in an engineering-grade product.
It's the direction of the bend, which is critical. A 'top bend' or top-emitting diffuser flexes up and down, like a wave on its side. A 'side bend' or side-emitting diffuser flexes left and right, like a snake on the ground. You have to pick the right one for the shape you're making. Bending one in the wrong axis will fight the internal support and can damage the strip.
Silicone is an insulator, so it does trap more heat than an open-air strip or one in an aluminum channel. For most standard-wattage strips—anything under 15W per meter—it's not a problem. If you plan to run a very high-output LED strip inside a silicone diffuser for hours on end, just make sure there's some decent airflow around the fixture.
