Triac CC Dimmable Driver

34 products

A constant current TRIAC dimmable LED driver delivers fixed milliamp output directly to downlights, spotlights, and COB modules from standard line-voltage wall dimmers. SuperLightingLED provides a complete range of constant current TRIAC dimming drivers engineered with LTECH digital control architecture for architectural retrofits and commercial fixtures. While our constant voltage TRIAC drivers supply static 12V or 24V power to parallel LED tape, these constant current units regulate DC amperage from 100mA up to 1750mA while floating the output voltage across 9V to 54V DC to match the diode forward drop.

What features define an LTECH CC TRIAC dimmable driver?

Every constant current TRIAC dimming driver in this category combines phase-cut AC line reception with micro-stepped output regulation to keep discrete LED arrays operating within safe current limits. Instead of relying on crude resistive dropping, each unit features:

  • Dual phase compatibility: operates with traditional leading-edge TRIAC and modern trailing-edge ELV wall controls, as well as line-voltage TRIAC dimmers.
  • Deep 0–100% dimming: smooth minimum threshold down to 0.01% on G1T series units (0.1% on standard E1P1 models) without visible step-stepping or drop-out.
  • IEEE 1789 exemption: high-frequency T-PWM modulation eliminates high-speed camera banding and visible optical ripple.
  • Secondary control options: select models include Push-Dim inputs alongside phase-cut AC terminals.
  • Automated recovery circuits: built-in defenses against short circuit, overload, overvoltage, and thermal runaway.

FAQ About Triac CC Dimmable Drivers

Direct technical answers on sizing, wiring, dimmer compatibility, and troubleshooting constant current phase-cut drivers from our engineering desk.

A Triac CC dimmable driver supplies a regulated constant current in milliamps (mA) while letting its DC output voltage adjust to match the forward voltage of connected LEDs. It receives a chopped AC phase line from standard wall dimmers and converts that phase cut into smooth, flicker-free DC dimming. You use this type of driver for bare high-power LEDs, architectural COB downlights, track lights, and commercial spotlights where the fixture does not have built-in current-limiting resistors.

Every Triac CC dimmable driver in this series supports both leading-edge (forward-phase Triac) and trailing-edge (reverse-phase ELV) dimming controls. They work cleanly with standard wall plates from Lutron (Diva, Skylark, Maestro ELV), Leviton Decora, and Legrand. If you have an older forward-phase dimmer on an existing jobsite, the driver operates without modification, but pairing it with an ELV trailing-edge dimmer provides quieter operation and stable low-end dimming down to 0.1%.

Check your fixture label for two figures: operating current in milliamps and total forward voltage (Vf) in volts. Select a driver whose output current matches the fixture requirement exactly, such as 350mA or 700mA. Next, ensure your fixture's operating voltage falls squarely between the driver's minimum and maximum DC output limits, like 9Vdc to 42Vdc on our 20W SE-20-300-650-G1T. If your fixture forward voltage sits at 36V, that 9-42Vdc window runs the light safely.

A multi-current Triac CC dimmable driver lets you dial in the exact operating current on site so one unit can service multiple fixture specifications. These multi-current units let you toggle between 4 to 8 current ratings using onboard DIP switches or NFC programming. That prevents stocking separate drivers for 350mA, 500mA, and 700mA downlights across different project rooms.

You can operate these drivers from smart switches, app controls, or wireless remotes by installing inline phase-cut dimmer modules ahead of the driver line terminals. Pairing an inline dimmer from our Triac dimming modules range with the driver line input allows RF handheld remotes, wireless push switches, or Bluetooth mesh apps to manage dimming curves. The module simply cuts the AC phase before the driver, which translates the wireless command into 0–100% flicker-free dimming.
