Weatherproof LED Strip Light Kits
29 productsLED Strip Lighting Systems that need to be used in exterior houses or outdoor environments or exposed to complex weather conditions need to have a good waterproof and dustproof rating of IP67 or higher IP68 to ensure that the Outdoor LED Strip Lights can work safely and properly in all weather conditions such as decks, patios, and soffits.
The transparent silicone housings of outdoor waterproof led light strips and the milky white silicone housings of outdoor neon led rope lights are highly resistant to UV radiation, will not fade or age, and will add color and ambiance to your outdoor exterior space on a permanent basis.
Lightweight outdoor led strip can be attached to the desired location with adhesive backing, while heavy duty strip led outdoor requires the use of mounting clips to ensure that the tape light doesn't fall off. Cut outdoor led light strips must be waterproofed before they can be used outdoors to avoid short circuits.

How to waterproof LED strip light?
Before waterproofing LED strip light do it yourself, you need to prepare an LED strip, a silicone sleeve (with a string inside), a bottle of translucent glue, and 2 waterproof end caps.
1. Keep the surface of the LED strip clean and tidy, and ensure that the length of the LED strip is consistent with the length of the silicone sleeve.
2. One end of the string inside the silicone sleeve is connected to the LED light strip, and under the action of external force, the LED light strip is pulled into the silicone sleeve.
3. Untie the rope, install waterproof end caps on both ends of the casing, fill the waterproof end caps with translucent glue, wipe the excess glue, place the vents, and dry for two hours.
FAQ About Weatherproof LED Strip Light Kits
Your outdoor lighting project questions, answered. Here’s what we get asked most often before an order goes out.
For permanent outdoor LED lights on eaves or soffits, you want a kit built for it. Look for strips with a high-quality, UV-resistant silicone housing — cheap PVC jackets will yellow and crack in the sun within a year or two. Also, prioritize mechanical fasteners. Relying on adhesive tape alone is a common mistake; use the included mounting clips to make sure the installation lasts as long as the lights do.
This is a critical point people miss. Not always. Many kits include an IP67-rated strip but a standard indoor-rated power supply. You cannot leave that indoor power brick exposed to the elements. You either need to install it in a weatherproof junction box or upgrade to one of our fully waterproof 24V power supplies. Check the IP rating on the power supply itself, not just the strip.
Nine times out of ten, it's because a cut wasn't re-sealed properly. When you cut a weatherproof LED strip, you break the factory seal. You have to seal that new end cap with silicone adhesive and let it fully cure before exposing it to moisture. If you don't, water gets inside the sleeve, shorts the circuit, and the strip is dead. Always use dielectric grease on the connectors and weatherproof end caps with silicone for any outdoor install.
Yes, if they're made with a cheap PVC or epoxy coating. That's why we use food-grade silicone for our IP67 and IP68 outdoor strips and neon flex. Silicone is naturally UV-resistant, so it stays flexible and won't yellow or crack when exposed to direct sunlight for years. It costs a bit more, but it's the right material for a permanent outdoor installation.
Only if the product is explicitly rated IP68. An IP68 rating means it's tested for continuous submersion in water. An IP67 strip is not sufficient for in-pool use; it's designed to protect against temporary immersion, not permanent underwater pressure. For pools, fountains, or ponds, you must use an IP68-rated strip and connectors to be safe and ensure the product lasts.
Absolutely. A huge part of our business is building kits to exact project specs. Just send us your required length—whether it's a 6ft led light strip or a 48ft run—and we'll cut it, solder on the waterproof power leads, seal both ends to IP67 standards, and test it before it ships. Just send a simple drawing or description to our engineers. We'll send back a complete parts list and quote, usually the same day, with no obligation to order.
For accent lighting on a deck or patio that's used after dark, 200-400 lumens per foot is usually plenty. If you're trying to light up a path for safety or want the lights to be visible during dusk, you should look for something in the 500-800 lumens per foot range. For bright, architectural wall-washing, you might even go higher. It's better to get a brighter strip and add a dimmer than to install one that's not bright enough.
