How to Safely Install and Cut High Voltage Neon

Working with AC line voltage requires care, but our high voltage neon lights are designed for a safe and secure installation. These ropes can only be cut at designated points, typically marked every 0.5 or 1 meter. Cutting outside these marks will damage the circuit and cause a section to fail.

After cutting, sealing the connection is critical to maintain the IP67 waterproof rating. Each connection point, including the end cap, must be sealed with silicone glue and heat shrink tubing. We provide all the necessary high voltage light parts, including power cords with built-in rectifiers and waterproof connectors, to ensure a safe, weather-resistant installation.

The run length. A high voltage LED neon light lets you run a single, continuous line up to 50 or even 100 meters without any voltage drop. For outlining buildings, lighting long corridors, or large-scale signage, that's a huge time and money saver. You plug one end directly into a wall outlet via a simple power cord, and the entire length is perfectly consistent. No drivers, no signal boosters, no wiring headaches every 10 meters.

They don't need a bulky DC power supply or driver like low-voltage strips do. That's one of their main benefits. They run directly off your mains AC power (110V or 220V). However, they do require a special power cord that has a small inline rectifier to convert the AC to DC for the LEDs. Each continuous run needs one of these dedicated power cord kits.

Absolutely, that's what they're built for. Our high voltage LED neon lights are typically rated IP67, meaning they're fully protected against dust and can be temporarily submerged in water. The key to a safe, long-lasting outdoor installation is properly sealing all connections. Use silicone sealant inside the end caps and around the power cord connection. A sloppy connection is where water gets in.

For most commercial buildings, 4000K outdoor lighting gives a clean, modern, and professional look. It's a neutral white that renders colors accurately without feeling too cold or sterile. If you're lighting older architecture, like brick or sandstone, then using 3000K outdoor lighting can bring out the warmth of the materials better. It's a softer, more inviting white, similar to halogen lights.

Nine times out of ten, that's a poor connection where the power cord's pins meet the strip. Unplug it from the wall, then carefully re-seat the pin connector, making sure the pins go straight into the copper conductors inside the neon flex. Sometimes the pins get bent or don't make full contact. If that doesn't fix it, the issue could be a faulty rectifier in the power cord itself. Try a different power cord to be sure.

You'll use dedicated mounting clips. These are typically made of aluminum or a tough polycarbonate. You screw the clip into the wall (using a wall plug for brick) and then the neon flex simply snaps into the clip. For a perfectly straight run, we recommend placing a clip every 30-50cm. When deciding between 2700K vs 3000K for outdoor lighting in a residential setting, it's about the mood. 2700K gives you that very warm, cozy, incandescent-like glow perfect for intimate seating areas and landscape accents. 3000K is still warm white, but it's a bit crisper and cleaner. It's a great all-rounder for general ambient light on a patio or walkway where you want a welcoming feel but slightly better visibility.
