It's all about the white light. An RGB strip makes white by mixing Red, Green, and Blue. It works, but it's a compromised, often bluish-white. RGBW adds a dedicated White chip, giving you a much cleaner, purer white. RGB+CCT is the top tier: it has the RGB chips plus two dedicated white chips, one warm and one cool. This lets you tune your white light from a warm 2800K glow to a cool 6500K daylight, and still get all the RGB colors. For task lighting or spaces where you need good white light, RGBW or RGB+CCT is the way to go.

Yes, absolutely. Every one of our multi-color LED strip light kits has clearly marked cut lines, usually every few inches. You'll see a little scissors icon printed right on the strip between copper pads. Use a sharp pair of scissors and cut straight across that line. Once cut, the leftover piece can be re-used with the right connector. Just don't cut anywhere else, or you'll damage the circuit and that section of LEDs won't light up.

For under cabinets, you want high color accuracy and good whites, so I'd point you to an RGB+CCT kit. This gives you great task lighting and the option for accent colors. For a gaming room or entertainment space, a standard RGB kit is often perfect for creating vibrant, saturated colors. If you want effects that chase or flow down the strip, you'll need to look at our color chasing LED strip kits, which have individually addressable LEDs. The 'best' really depends on what you need the light to do.

Yes, many of our kits are designed for exactly this. A USB 5050 LED strip lighting kit is designed to run on the 5V power from a standard USB port. It's a great, simple way to get bias lighting behind a screen, which can reduce eye strain. You have to check the IP rating. 'Waterproof' isn't one single thing. An IP65-rated strip has a silicone coating that protects it from splashes, which is fine for a covered porch. For direct exposure to rain, like on eaves or railings, you need IP67, which is a strip encased in a silicone tube. For anything that will be submerged, like in a pond, you need IP68. You can control them together, but you can't just plug them into each other end-to-end to make a super long run. As we covered with voltage drop, you can't run much more than 5-10 meters in a single series. To control a longer distance as one zone, you wire multiple strips back to the controller in parallel, like spokes on a wheel. Or, for very long installations, you place a power amplifier after each strip segment. The amplifier boosts the signal from the controller, letting you maintain color and brightness indefinitely.
