IP68 led strip lights are the highest IP rating for protection, completely dustproof and fully waterproof, capable of operating for long periods of time in fully submerged environments. When you want to use LED strip lighting in water environments such as swimming pools and ponds, you must choose IP68 rated led lights. IP68 underwater led light fixtures are also good for lighted swimming pool and lighted pond fountain, waterfall designs.
Our IP68 led light strips for pools are made with solid extrusion and potting process, which completely encapsulates the led strip in transparent silicone. Understanding the Waterproof Craftsmanship of IP67 & IP68 LED Strips
An IP rating is more than just a number—it represents different LED strip manufacturing processes and levels of protection. Here are the key distinctions.
- What is an IP67 LED Strip?
An IP67-rated LED strip achieves its waterproof protection through a silicone sleeving process. In this method, a standard IP20 strip is fully inserted into a transparent silicone tube, which is then hermetically sealed at both ends. This IP67 process offers a reliable and cost-effective waterproof LED light strip solution. This method is the same as neon rope lighting, so we can also make neon lights for you as long as you purchase both our light strips and our silicone tubes.
For ultra-narrow strip light models, IP67 protection is alternatively achieved using heat-shrink tubing. It's important to note the practical difference: the silicone sleeve creates a hollow tube around the strip, allowing for potential future maintenance, while the heat-shrink tube forms a tight, conformal seal directly onto the strip's surface.
*Our Recommendation*: If your outdoor or damp-area project does not require submersion or exposure to high-pressure water, our IP67 light strips provide an excellent balance of protection, value, and simplicity.

- What is an IP68 LED Strip?
An IP68-rated LED strip provides complete protection against dust ingress and prolonged submersion in water. Achieving this highest grade of waterproofing requires specialized manufacturing processes, which typically extend our production timeline to 4-5 days.
Our IP68 LED protection is implemented through one of two durable methods:
1. Silicone sleeving with silicone-compound potting: The light strip is encased in a silicone tube, which is then filled with liquid silicone that completely encapsulates the LED circuit board before curing into a solid, waterproof barrier.
2. Solid extrusion: The LED strip is directly coated and sealed within a solid, extruded silicone jacket during manufacturing, offering superior durability and a seamless finish.
These processes can produce continuous, waterproofed LED sections up to 50 meters in length, depending on the strip model and method used.
