RF DIM CC Controller
2 productsThe SkyDance RF DIM CC Controller Series is designed for constant-current LED dimmable fixtures that require a separate controller rather than an integrated constant-current dimmable driver. Unlike RF CC dimmable LED drivers, which combine the power supply and wireless dimming functions in one unit, these controllers receive DC power from an external constant-current-compatible power system and provide adjustable current output for connected LED fixtures.
Depending on the model, the output current can be configured within ranges such as 150–500mA or 350–1200mA, allowing you to select an appropriate current for your LED fixtures. Logarithmic dimming provides a more natural brightness adjustment experience, especially at lower brightness levels.
The CC controller supports up to four channels of single-color constant-current lighting output. Fade-in and fade-out effects provide smooth lighting transitions, while an external Push switch offers an additional wired control option.
Pair the constant-current LED controller with compatible SkyDance RF dimming handheld remotes or wall panel remotes to adjust lighting wirelessly. Multiple controllers can automatically synchronize their dimming operation within an RF wireless range of up to 30 meters under suitable conditions. One controller can also be paired with up to 10 compatible RF remotes, allowing lighting to be operated from multiple locations.
Built-in short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection help safeguard the controller and connected CC light fixtures, with a 5-year warranty for added reliability in long-term lighting applications.
FAQ About RF DIM CC Controllers
Direct answers to the most common technical questions about selecting, wiring, and configuring SkyDance constant-current RF dimming controllers.
An RF DIM CC controller is a low-voltage DC-to-DC dimming module that receives direct current from an external power supply and delivers a regulated constant current output to LED fixtures. It pairs wirelessly with SkyDance 2.4 GHz handheld remotes or wall panels while accepting an optional wired push-dim switch. Instead of regulating voltage like a constant-voltage dimmer, it maintains a steady milliamp level—such as 350mA—across varying forward voltages. This makes it ideal for raw LED downlights, spotlights, and COB modules that do not contain internal current-limiting resistors.
An RF DIM CC controller requires an input DC voltage that exceeds the combined forward voltage of your connected LEDs by at least 2V to 3V. If you run three 9V COB fixtures in series on one channel, their total forward voltage is 27V. Adding the 2V internal dropout means your input supply must provide at least 29V DC, so a 36V or 48V industrial power supply is the correct choice. Because both models in this category handle up to 48V DC, you can feed higher-voltage strings that lower-voltage controllers cannot support.
An RF DIM CC controller rated at 350mA can safely power 700mA fixtures, but the LEDs will run at roughly half their rated brightness. Under-driving constant-current LEDs is completely safe, generates significantly less heat, and extends diode lifespan. If you need full 700mA output on a single fixture, our 4-channel C4 controller allows specific multichannel configurations.
An RF DIM CC controller delivers a fixed milliamp output designed to pass through every diode in a single continuous series loop. If you wire constant-current fixtures in parallel, the current divides unevenly because no two diodes share identical forward resistance. The diode with the lowest resistance takes excessive current—known as thermal runaway—overheats, and burns out. Once that fixture opens, the remaining fixtures absorb the full current and fail in rapid succession. Always wire CC fixtures positive-to-negative in series.
An RF DIM CC controller will immediately trigger its built-in protection and shut off if the LED string voltage exceeds the DC power supply input. This happens most often when an installer connects too many downlights in series, pushing total forward voltage beyond the power supply voltage minus the controller's internal dropout. Another common cause is an open-circuit loop or loose wire nut on the output side. Power down the 48V supply, verify total string forward voltage with a multimeter, check continuity, and restore power.
An RF DIM CC controller includes dedicated screw terminals for a standard, normally-open momentary wall push button that operates concurrently with 2.4 GHz RF remotes. A brief press turns the connected lights on or off, while holding the switch down ramps brightness smoothly from 0% to 100% using logarithmic dimming. Releasing and holding again reverses the dimming direction. The controller features power-off memory, so whether you adjust brightness via the wall switch or an RF remote, it recalls the exact level after an outage.
