V-shape (or corner) profiles are designed to throw light out at a 45-degree angle, perfect for corners. Recessed channels have a flange or 'wing' to give you a clean, flush-mounted finish in drywall or millwork.

For a permanent, professional install, always use the mounting clips and screws. It's secure and won't fail over time. While some people use high-strength double-sided tape or construction adhesive for light-duty residential applications, mechanical fastening is the only way to guarantee it stays put, especially on a ceiling. 

No, and this is a common mistake. You have to match the LED strip's PCB width to the channel's *inner* width. Check the specs for both. A 10mm wide strip won't fit in an 8mm channel. Most of our product pages list compatible strip widths, but always measure twice before you order.

The aluminum channel itself is fine outdoors, but the complete setup is only as waterproof as your LED strip and your wiring. For damp locations like bathrooms, you need an IP65 or higher rated strip and you must seal the end caps with silicone. 

Those flanges are a lifesaver for installers. When you cut a groove in drywall, plaster, or wood to recess the channel, the cut is never perfectly clean.
