Product Information

The FSLRGB-SM16703AP-96W8 is a DC 12V addressable RGB LED strip engineered on an ultra-narrow 8mm flexible PCB with 96 SMD3535 LEDs per meter. Featuring an external SM16703AP dual-signal control IC for every 3 LEDs, this digital LED strip provides continuous signal transmission, preventing downstream data interruption if an individual IC encounters a failure. Each 5-meter reel consumes 12W to 14W per meter and comes pre-fitted with 4-pin JST signal connectors and 2-pin auxiliary power injection leads at both ends. For stable dynamic chases and multi-pixel scenes, pair this tape with a compatible addressable RGB controller and dual-ended DC injection.

Key Features

Dual Data Breakpoint Resume

External SM16703AP ICs utilize main and backup data lines so a single damaged IC does not break signal flow to subsequent pixels.

Narrow 8mm PCB Profile

Slim 8mm width and 2.1mm height allow direct mounting inside narrow aluminum extrusions or an 8mm silicone neon diffuser for spotless linear output.

96 LEDs per Meter Density

Equipped with 96 SMD3535 RGB diodes and 32 addressable ICs per meter, delivering a tight 31.25mm cutting segment for accurate architectural fitting.

Dual-End Factory Connectors

Supplied with 4-pin JST SM data terminals and independent 2-pin DC power leads on both reel ends to simplify dual-ended power injection.

RBG Color Sequence Calibration

Configured with an RBG channel order that integrates directly into digital SPI controller setups without color inversion errors.

Application Scenarios

Commercial Hospitality Cove LightingDeliver programmable digital chases and vibrant color shifts inside restaurant perimeter bulkheads and hotel reception coves. Pairing this 12V addressable RGB LED strip with an SPI interface enables sound-reactive ambiance and synchronized architectural lighting scenes.
Custom Slim Neon Linear ContoursAt an 8mm width, this flexible LED strip inserts into silicone neon sleeves and narrow aluminum channels. Designers achieve continuous, diffusion-softened color runs along millwork, retail display shelves, and gaming setup accent perimeters without dark spots.
Linear Spatial and Stage AccentsThe dual-signal SM16703AP architecture ensures stage installations, exhibitions, and venue backdrops maintain uninterrupted visual playback. If a mechanical strike damages one pixel during an event, downstream lighting continues operating normally.

How to Install & Use This LED Strip

  1. Measure the run and cut strictly across marked copper solder pads at 31.25mm intervals if custom lengths are required.
  2. Connect the 4-pin JST signal interface to your controller and mate the positive and negative leads to a regulated 12V UL-listed power supply.
  3. Carry out a complete operational test across red, green, blue, and white scenes prior to removing the adhesive liner.
  4. To make secure angle transitions or jumpers, solder lead wires directly onto exposed solder pads or use compatible 3-pin addressable LED strip parts.

⚠ Precautions

  • 12V Single-End Power Drop Notice: While individual red, green, and blue diodes show minimal drop on single-ended power, blended colors (such as mixed white, yellow, or purple) experience visible voltage drop across the second half of a 5m reel. Connecting DC 12V power at both ends of each 5m reel is required for uniform color accuracy.
  • Verify your controller output mode matches the RBG color sequence of this SM16703AP strip to prevent swapped red and blue channels;.
  • Ensure power supply wattage includes at least 20% electrical headroom above total strip load (minimum 84W rated driver per 5m reel).

What's in the Box

  • ✓1 x 5-meter (16.4ft) reel of 12V SM16703AP 96 LEDs/m 8mm addressable RGB LED strip
  • ✓Factory-soldered 4-pin JST connector and 2-pin DC power injection wires on both ends

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: can you cut rgb led strip lights

A: Yes, this LED strip can be cut every 31.25mm along designated copper solder pads, where each group of 3 LEDs forms one independently controlled pixel.

Q: how to control rgb led strip

A: This strip requires an SPI digital pixel controller compatible with SM16703, UCS1903, or WS2811 protocols set to the RBG color sequence.

Q: Why is dual-ended power injection recommended for this 5m reel?

A: When powered from one end only, mixed colors show voltage drop and color shifting along the latter half of the 5m run; supplying 12V to both ends ensures consistent color and brightness across all 96 LEDs per meter.

LED Strip Light Guide

Common questions about this type of product, answered against this model’s own options. For full figures see the specification above or the spec sheet for this model.

Which controller does this LED strip light need?
Addressable LED strip lights take a data signal, so they need an SPI (pixel) controller that supports this IC — an ordinary RGB controller will not drive them. Data flows one way: connect the controller to the input end marked with the arrow. Wiring addressable LED strip lights
Do I need power injection?
5 V addressable LED strip lights lose voltage fastest, so longer runs need power fed in at both ends and at intervals along the run; 12 V and 24 V versions carry further. Keep the data line short between controller and first pixel. Choosing an addressable LED strip light
Which waterproof rating should I choose?
Available on this model: Outdoor Silicone Tube IP67 - Adhesive Back · Non-Waterproof IP20 - Adhesive Back. IP20 is for dry indoor use, IP65 handles splashes, IP67 suits outdoor and wet areas, IP68 is for continuous submersion. Choosing a waterproof rating
Can I cut it to length?
Yes. Cut only on the marked cut lines between the copper pads — the cut interval for this model is on its spec sheet. Rejoin with solder or a solderless connector. Cutting LED strip lights · we can also cut to length and fit your connector before shipping: custom LED strip light assembly.
What size power supply do I need?
Take the watts per metre from the specification above, multiply by the length you are running, then add about 25% headroom. Power calculation guide · Choosing a power supply
