5mm/0.20in Silicone Neon Diffuser
45 productsOur 5mm silicone neon diffusers are engineered for one specific job: creating a seamless, dot-free line of light using thin LED strips. If you're working with a 5mm wide PCB, this is your category. These flexible neon tubes turn standard LED strip lights into a uniform glow, ideal for accent lighting, signage, or any design that calls for a clean, continuous line of light.
You're buying the housing here — the durable, flexible silicone LED neon tube itself. You pair it with the 5mm LED strip of your choice, whether it's a simple white, a tunable CCT, or even a 5mm addressable RGB strip. The food-grade silicone we use won't yellow or crack over time, and it provides IP67 waterproofing for the strip inside, making it a reliable choice for both indoor and damp locations. Installation is straightforward; you simply feed the LED strip into the channel. We stock these in various profiles, from tiny 4x8mm rectangles to round 360-degree tubes.
Top, Side, or 360-Degree Glow: Which 5mm Neon Strip Profile is Right?
The single most important choice for your neon strip is the direction of light. This dictates how it can be bent and where the light will be visible.
Top Emitting profiles bend on the Z-axis (up and down) and shine light from the top surface, just like a standard LED strip. They are perfect for following contours on a flat surface.
Side Emitting profiles are designed to be bent horizontally (left and right), with the light shining out from the edge. This is what you need for wrapping around objects or creating lettering.
Round and Multi-Sided diffusers, like our 360° round tube, provide a much wider beam angle, creating a visible light source from almost any direction, which is great for free-form, suspended designs.

Achieving a Truly Dot-Free Glow
The main reason to use a neon led tube is to eliminate the hot spots from individual LED chips. With a narrow 5mm diffuser, the density of your LED strip is critical. A strip with 60 LEDs/meter might still show some subtle spotting, especially with a clear or highly translucent diffuser.
For a perfectly uniform glow led light strip, we recommend using a COB (Chip on Board) strip or a standard SMD strip with a density of at least 120 LEDs/meter. The milky white silicone on most of our profiles does an excellent job of diffusion, but the higher the LED density, the more flawless the final result will be. If you're using a lower-density strip, choosing a thicker diffuser profile can also help improve the effect.
Frequently Asked Questions About 5mm Silicone Neon Diffusers
Got questions before you buy? I've been answering these on the support desk for over a decade. Here are the common ones.
A 5mm silicone neon diffuser takes the harsh, individual points of light from your 5mm LED lamp or strip and blends them into a smooth, continuous line. It's made of a special grade of silicone that scatters the light evenly, turning a dotted LED tape into a solid bar of light that looks a lot like traditional neon. This is how you get that clean, high-end look without hotspots.
Almost, but the key is the PCB width. These diffusers are specifically designed for 5mm wide LED light strips. If your strip is wider and bigger, it just won't fit. Always measure your strip's circuit board with calipers before you order the tube.
The milky white silicone in these diffusers will slightly soften any color, but it won't drastically change it. A yellow orange LED 5mm strip will still look yellow-orange. However, the diffusion can make the color appear a bit more pastel or less saturated. If color accuracy is absolutely critical for a brand standard, we always recommend you order a small section and test it with your specific 5mm LED light strip first.
This is a silicone diffuser cover for 5mm LED lights, not traditional glass neon. It uses the flexibility and efficiency of modern LED strips to create an effect that looks very similar to neon, but without the high voltage, fragility, and high power consumption. It's a DIY-friendly way to get that classic neon look with all the benefits of LED technology.
Yes, we do this all the time. A huge part of our business is building custom lighting assemblies to spec. You can send us your required lengths, what kind of 5mm led strip you want inside, the wire length you need, and whether you want the ends sealed for waterproof applications. An engineer here will send back a complete wiring diagram and a quote, usually within 12 hours. There's no fee for the consultation, and you're not obligated to order. Most of the complex jobs we ship are built from a customer's drawing.
