SK6812 2020 LED Strip
20 products

The driver IC for SK6812 2020 LED strip is built into a small surface mount SMD2020, allowing the entire 2020 RGB led strip to have a more compact design and enabling independent control of the brightness and color of each 2020 LED. SMD 2020 LEDs are a common choice for a wide range of small size and high-density DRGB (digital RGB) individually addressable LED strips such as WS2812, WS2812B and APA102, provids relatively high brightness output in a small footprint. SMD2020's special packaging technology increases the visible area of LED light by emitting light from multiple directions.
Comparison of Addressable 2020 LED Strips
• SK6812-2020: Compatible with WS2812 protocol, 5V control, single wire signal;
• WS2812B-2020 and WS2812C-2020: offers a wider choice of LED densities 60/90/120/160/200 per meter, available in 12V version;
• APA102-2020: dual-wire signal (data line + clock line) control, with faster signal transmission rate, suitable for high demand dynamic effects.

Frequently Asked Questions About SK6812 2020 LED Strips
Got a question about these tiny, high-density strips? I've probably answered it before. Here are the most common things people ask before they buy.
Yes. We stock versions on PCBs as narrow as 2.7mm and 3mm. They're designed specifically for applications like jewelry displays, model making, or embedding into thin architectural elements where a standard 8mm or 10mm strip just won't fit. For the absolute tightest spots, check out our ultra-narrow LED strip series.
Absolutely. That's what they're perfect for. The single-wire data protocol is very popular in the maker community. For Arduino, the FastLED and NeoPixel libraries work perfectly. For Raspberry Pi, you can find Python libraries that will drive them. Just remember that the data line from a 3.3V controller like a Pi or ESP32 might need a logic level shifter to reliably control the 5V strip, especially on longer data runs.
If you need RGBW (RGB + a separate White channel), you must choose an SK6812, as the WS2812B doesn't have that option. If your project is RGB only, the decision between WS2812 vs SK6812 doesn't really matter—they perform identically. Go with whichever is in stock at the density and width you need. We've used both on thousands of projects and the reliability is the same.
Yes, they're great for that. Because of the super high density—up to 200 LEDs per meter—the total light output is surprisingly high and looks very smooth, almost like a neon tube. They're perfect for things like backlighting a monitor, under-cabinet task lighting, or inside a PC case. They are not, however, designed for general room illumination. For that, you'd want a larger, more powerful strip.
Yes, we do this every day. A huge portion of what we ship is built to a customer's drawing. Just send us your requirements—a sketch, a CAD file, even just a description with lengths and wire types. An engineer will send back a complete wiring diagram and a quote, usually within 12 hours. We can pre-solder leads of any length, add specific connectors, and even waterproof the connections. There's no fee for the consultation and no obligation to order.
For any run over 2-3 meters, the 12V SK6812 2020 LED strip is almost always the better choice. The higher voltage handles distance much better, so you'll have less voltage drop and more consistent color and brightness from one end to the other. 5V requires more power injection points.
Any controller that supports the WS2812B protocol will run an SK6812 2020 LED strip perfectly. This includes a huge range of options. For simple effects, you can use pre-programmed remote control units. For full customization, you can use DIY boards like Arduino, ESP8266, or Raspberry Pi. For professional installs, there are DMX and Art-Net controllers that can translate signals for these strips. We stock dozens of compatible addressable dream color controllers.
