An IP67 waterproof led strip is rated for temporary submersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes, which is perfect for rain, splashes, and damp locations. For anything that will be underwater for longer, like in a pool or fountain, you absolutely need an IP68 rated strip. IP68 is built for continuous submersion. Using an IP67 strip in a pool is a common mistake that leads to failure within months.
Yes, you can cut our flexible LED strip lights at the designated cut marks. But to maintain the IP67 rating, you *must* seal the new end properly. This means injecting electronics-grade silicone into an end cap and fitting it securely over the cut end. We also offer IP68 connectors that can make this easier. Just cutting it and leaving the end exposed guarantees it will fail from moisture.
For any permanent outdoor installation, the adhesive backing on a waterproof flexible led strip is only for temporary positioning. Temperature changes and moisture will cause it to fail over time. You must use the included tape light mounting clips for a secure, long-term installation. Relying only on the tape is the number one reason we see outdoor strips come loose.
That's usually caused by prolonged, direct UV exposure from the sun. While our IP67 strips use high-quality silicone that resists this better than cheap PVC housings, no flexible plastic is immune forever. For installations in constant, direct sunlight, mounting the strip inside an aluminum channel with a diffuser adds a layer of UV protection and also helps with heat dissipation, which extends the life of the LEDs.
The power supply needs to match the strip's voltage (12V, 24V, etc.) and have enough wattage for the total length. For outdoor installs, you must use a rainproof or waterproof power supply, not an indoor-rated one. Putting an indoor power brick outside, even in a 'sheltered' spot, is a huge safety risk and a common point of failure. Check the strip's watts-per-meter, multiply by your total length, and add 20% headroom.
That's classic voltage drop. With low-voltage DC strips, the power diminishes over distance. On 12V, you'll see it after about 5 meters. With 24V, you can go closer to 10 meters. For a 15-meter run, you need to either power it from both ends or run a separate power line from the driver to the middle of the strip. We also stock 48V strips that can run for much longer distances from a single power source.
For a boat, I'd strongly recommend an IP67 or IP68 strip, not an IP66 one. A 12V waterproof flexible LED strip with an IP67 rating can handle spray and brief submersion from waves, which is critical in a marine environment. IP66 can't handle being submerged at all. Also, remember saltwater is very corrosive, so ensure all your connections are sealed with marine-grade silicone and heat shrink.
You need to be careful here. Standard IP67 strips are rated for water, but not necessarily the high heat and humidity of a sauna. Using a regular outdoor strip in a sauna will drastically shorten its lifespan.
Yes, our flexible waterproof led strip lights are dimmable, but it depends on the power supply and controller you pair them with. The strip itself is just LEDs. To dim it, you need a dimmable LED driver and a compatible wall dimmer (like TRIAC, 0-10V) or a low-voltage PWM dimmer that sits between the power supply and the strip. You can't just hook it up to a standard AC wall dimmer.
No, you can't force a hard 90-degree corner. All flexible strips have a minimum bend radius, which is listed on the product spec sheet. Forcing a sharper bend can damage the internal PCB and the LEDs. Our neon products are either 'top-bend' (like a U-shape) or 'side-bend' (like an S-shape). Plan your corners accordingly, or cut the strip and use a connector to make the turn.
