How to Install & Use This LED Strip
- Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or oils. Use an isopropyl alcohol wipe for best results.
- Measure the required length and carefully cut the LED strip only at the designated copper cut marks.
- Connect the strip to a compatible DC24V power supply. For dimming, wire it through a compatible dimmer or controller.
- Before final installation, connect and power on the strip to test functionality and color consistency.
- Peel the backing from the 3M adhesive tape and firmly press the strip onto the prepared surface for at least 30 seconds.
- For customized runs, use solderless connectors or carefully solder wires to maintain a reliable connection.
- Do not exceed the maximum recommended run length in a single series to avoid voltage drop (dimming at the far end). Power from both ends for longer runs.
- Avoid bending the strip tighter than its minimum bend radius to prevent damage to the circuit.
- Always use a DC24V power supply with a wattage rating at least 20% higher than the total wattage of the connected strip.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What kind of power supply do I need?
A:You need a DC24V power supply. To determine the size, multiply the total length of your strip in meters by 10 watts, then add 20% headroom. For a full 5-meter reel, you'll need a power supply of at least 60W (5m x 10W/m x 1.2).
Q: What is the difference between the IP ratings (IP20, IP65, IP67)?
A:IP20 is non-waterproof for indoor, dry locations. IP65 has a splash-proof silicone coating suitable for kitchens or bathrooms. IP67 is encased in a silicone tube, making it water-resistant for many outdoor applications.
Q: What is the maximum length I can run in a single continuous strip?
A:For 24V systems, we recommend a maximum single run of 5-10 meters to avoid voltage drop, which can cause the strip to dim at the end. For longer runs, it's best to power the strip from both ends or use multiple parallel runs back to the power supply.
Q: What do the different color temperatures like 2700K and 6500K mean?
A:2700K produces a very warm, cozy white light similar to a traditional incandescent bulb. 6500K produces a cool, crisp white light similar to daylight. To help you choose, you can read our guide explaining the difference between soft white and daylight.
