This is the most common point of failure, especially on wood, textured, or slightly oily surfaces. Don't rely on the tape alone. Screw-in mounting brackets are the only way to guarantee it never sags.

Once you cut a waterproof strip, the seal is broken. To fix it, you need to solder your lead wires on, then slide a piece of heat-shrink tubing over the joint and heat it until it seals tight. For the very end of the strip, you'll need a silicone end cap filled with silicone sealant.

It's basically a chemical that makes double-sided tape stick to silicone. Standard 3M VHB tape doesn't bond well to the silicone sleeves on waterproof LED strips. You brush our silicone surface primer onto the back of the strip first, let it dry for a minute, and then the adhesive tape will form a much stronger, more permanent bond. It's a must-have for mounting IP67 strips.
