How to Choose the Right 3014 LED Strip
Picking the right 3014 SMD LED strip comes down to a few key specs. Think about how bright you need it, where you're putting it, and what color of light you want.

LED Density: From 60 to 240 LEDs/m
LED density is simply how many LEDs are on each meter of the strip. A standard density strip with 60 LEDs/m is great for general ambient lighting. But for intense, perfectly smooth task lighting, you'll want a high-density version like our 1200-LED strips, which pack in 240 LEDs/m. More LEDs mean more light and less spotting.
PCB Width and Special Types: 3mm to 10mm
The small size of the 3014 chip allows for incredibly narrow FPCB widths. We have ultra-narrow LED strip lights as thin as 3mm, perfect for squeezing into tight grooves, model-making, or creating custom signage. The main difference is the size and layout. A 5050 SMD strip has larger, individually brighter chips. A 3014 SMD LED strip uses smaller chips, which lets us pack them way closer together, it gives you a narrower PCB with the same high-density lights.
That's classic voltage drop, and it's the most common installation mistake. A 12V 3014 LED strip light can only run for about 5 meters (16.4ft) before the power fades. To fix it, you either need to run power to both ends of the strip, or use a 24V strip from the start, which can handle longer runs with less drop. For anything over 5 meters, you should always use a 24V 3014 LED strip. On a 10-meter run, a 12V strip would look bright at the start and noticeably dim at the end. The higher voltage on a 3014 led strip 24v lets the power travel further down the copper trace with less loss, keeping the brightness much more consistent. Save the 12V strips for shorter runs like cabinet interiors or display cases.
Yes, for any high-density 3014 LED strip lights—especially our ultrabright 240 LED/m versions—you absolutely need to mount them in an aluminum channel. The channel is a heat sink. It pulls the heat away from the LED chips and prevents them from burning out early. Sticking a powerful strip directly to a wood shelf or drywall is a recipe for failure. The heat has nowhere to go and will cook the LEDs, drastically shortening their lifespan.
The brightness of a 3014 SMD LED strip depends completely on the LED density. A basic strip might only have 60 LEDs per meter, which is fine for a soft accent glow.
