Tunable White COB LED Strip

It's all about the controller you have to use. A 3-pin COB CCT LED strip is the standard (V+, Warm-, Cool-) and it works with the widest range of CCT controllers. The special 2-pin versions are simpler to wire (just V+ and V-) but require a specific 2-wire CCT controller that sends a signal to switch between the warm and cool chips. Don't mix them up; a 2-pin strip won't work on a 3-pin controller.

Yes, but only with specific models designed for it. Our long-run COB CCT light strips use unique tech to prevent voltage drop, ensuring the light is the same brightness and color from start to finish on a 33ft (10m) run. Always check the product spec for its maximum single-ended run length.

Yes, you absolutely do. A standard single-color dimmer won't work. To adjust both brightness and the color temperature from warm to cool, you need a dedicated CCT controller or dimmer. We stock dozens that work over RF remote, wall panel, Wi-Fi app, or even Zigbee to integrate with systems like Tuya. The controller is the brain of the operation.

Nine times out of ten, this is a wiring mistake. On a standard 3-wire COB CCT LED strip, you have a common positive (V+) and two negatives, one for warm white (WW) and one for cool white (CW). If you've only connected one of the negative wires, or wired it to a single-channel controller, you'll only get one color. Check out our CCT wiring guide for a diagram.

Use an accent COB CCT strip when you need to direct the light, not just flood an area. The standard 180° COB is perfect for general cove lighting. But for grazing a textured wall, lighting a narrow shelf, or hitting products in a display case, the focused beam of an accent strip gives you more punch and less light spill. It puts the light exactly where you want it.

The best part of a COB color temperature LED strip is you get both. For applications in living rooms or bedrooms, you'll use the warm white (2700K-3000K) to create a cozy, relaxing vibe. For applications needing focus, like a kitchen counter, office, or garage, you'll dial it up to natural white (4000K) or daylight white (5000K-6500K) for crisp, clear visibility.

You can cut our COB tunable white LED strips along the designated copper solder pads. For reconnecting without a soldering iron, we have dedicated COB strip connectors that pierce through the strip to make contact. They work well for most installations, but for a permanent, mission-critical connection, nothing beats a solder joint. Some of our newer models can even be cut anywhere.

CCT stands for Correlated Color Temperature. It's a measure of how warm (yellowish) or cool (bluish) a white light appears, measured in Kelvin (K). A standard white COB strip has a fixed CCT. The whole point of a CCT or tunable white COB LED strip is that its CCT is adjustable, usually from 2700K up to 6500K, giving you total control over the mood of your space.

That's classic voltage drop. On a long run of any standard DC light strip, the voltage literally drops as it travels down the copper, causing the LEDs at the far end to be underpowered. They'll look dimmer. For runs over 5m (16ft), you either need to power the strip from both ends, or use one of our dedicated long-run strips built to handle it.
