Application Scenarios

Custom PC & Gaming Room Lighting The high-density options and individual pixel control make this strip ideal for vibrant, reactive lighting inside PC cases, behind monitors, and around gaming desks for an immersive experience.
Retail & Exhibit Displays Capture customer attention with eye-catching dynamic effects. Use these strips to highlight products on shelves, create animated signage, or build engaging trade show displays.
DIY Electronics & Maker Projects The 5V SK6812 versions are fully compatible with popular microcontrollers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi, making them a favorite choice for hobbyists creating custom lighting projects, wearables, and interactive art.

How to Install & Use This LED Strip

  1. Clean the installation surface to ensure it is dry and free of dust or oils.
  2. Cut the strip at the designated copper cut marks if a shorter length is needed.
  3. Peel the backing from the 3M adhesive tape and firmly press the strip onto the surface.
  4. Connect the 3-pin JST connector to your addressable LED controller. Ensure the Data, V+, and GND lines are correctly matched.
  5. Connect the appropriate 5V or 12V power supply to your controller and the strip. See our guide for more details: How to Wire Addressable LED Strip Lights?
  6. Power on the system and configure your controller to generate lighting effects.

⚠ Precautions
  • Always use a power supply that matches the strip's voltage (5V or 12V). Using the wrong voltage will permanently damage the strip.
  • Power injection may be required for long runs to prevent voltage drop and color shifting at the end of the strip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the 5V and 12V versions of this strip?

A:The 5V version allows cutting every single LED. The 12V version can be cut every 1 or 3 LEDs, and is better for longer continuous runs due to reduced voltage drop.

Q: Can I order a continuous strip that is longer than 1 meter?

A:Yes, you can. Please select the 'Send single continuous strip' option when ordering. We can provide a single, seamless roll up to 5 meters (16.4ft) in length.

Q: What type of controller is compatible with this LED strip?

A:You will need a dedicated addressable RGB LED controller that supports SK6812 IC. These are standard SPI-based controllers, widely available for platforms like Arduino, ESP32 (WLED), or standalone units.

Q: How do I choose between 60, 120, or 144 LEDs/m?

A:Choose 60 LEDs/m for basic accents. Select 120 or 144 LEDs/m for brighter output and much smoother color transitions and animations, as the pixels are closer together.

LED Strip Light Guide

Common questions about this type of product, answered against this model’s own options. For full figures see the specification above or the spec sheet for this model.

Which controller does this LED strip light need?
Addressable LED strip lights take a data signal, so they need an SPI (pixel) controller that supports this IC — an ordinary RGB controller will not drive them. Data flows one way: connect the controller to the input end marked with the arrow. Wiring addressable LED strip lights
Do I need power injection?
5 V addressable LED strip lights lose voltage fastest, so longer runs need power fed in at both ends and at intervals along the run; 12 V and 24 V versions carry further. Keep the data line short between controller and first pixel. Choosing an addressable LED strip light
Which waterproof rating should I choose?
Available on this model: Waterproof IP67 - Adhesive Back · Non-Waterproof IP20 - Adhesive Back. IP20 is for dry indoor use, IP65 handles splashes, IP67 suits outdoor and wet areas, IP68 is for continuous submersion. Choosing a waterproof rating
Can I cut it to length?
Yes. Cut only on the marked cut lines between the copper pads — the cut interval for this model is on its spec sheet. Rejoin with solder or a solderless connector. Cutting LED strip lights · we can also cut to length and fit your connector before shipping: custom LED strip light assembly.
What size power supply do I need?
Take the watts per metre from the specification above, multiply by the length you are running, then add about 25% headroom. Power calculation guide · Choosing a power supply
Will it fit an aluminium profile, and how dense are the LEDs?
LED density 144 LEDs/m (DC12V) · 120 LEDs/m (DC12V) · 120 LEDs/m (DC5V) · 60 LEDs/m (DC5V). Choose a profile whose inner width is at least the PCB width; denser LEDs give a smoother line close to a diffuser. LED aluminium profiles
