Standard dynamic RGB lighting offers only colored lights, while RGBW lighting provides only a fixed white light. RGBCCT COB lights, however, feature both colored RGB lights and adjustable white light (ranging from 2700 to 6500 Kelvin). This makes RGBCCT COB strips the most color-rich type of PWM strip, while addressable RGBCCT COB strips are the most color-rich among SPI/DMX strips.

Due to complex functions, RGBWW COB LED strip has higher working power and requires a more powerful 12V driver or 24V driver. Compared to traditional color changing SMD LED tape light, RGBCCT dotless COB LED strip ensures every LED is in direct contact with PCB, therefore has better heat dissipation performance. Its connector also varies from smd led connectors. 

If you want to make the COB style LED strip light dissipate heat faster and last longer, you can put the FCOB RGBCCT light strip into an aluminum channel to better help conduct heat. This also helps to prevent other physical damage.

Your project needs to be perfect. Here are the straight answers to the questions we get asked every day before an order gets placed.

They're controlled completely differently. A 6-pin RGBCCT COB LED strip is a 'whole-strip' control product; whatever color or temperature you set, the entire strip shows it. The 3 or 4-pin RGBCCT versions are addressable, meaning each small section has its own tiny computer chip (an IC). This lets you create flowing, chasing, rainbow effects where different parts of the strip show different colors at the same time. You need a dedicated addressable RGBCCT controller for that.

That's a classic case of voltage drop, and it's the most common installation issue we see. It happens when you run a strip too long from a single power feed. The voltage literally runs out of steam by the time it gets to the far end. The fix is to inject power at both ends of the strip, or for very long runs, in the middle as well. 

For 10 meters, you should absolutely use 24V. A 24V system lets you run roughly double the distance of a 12V system before voltage drop becomes visible. If you tried to run 10 meters of a 12V RGBCCT COB strip from one end, the last few meters would be noticeably dim and color-shifted. With 24V, you have a much better chance of getting consistent brightness and color from start to finish.

No, and this is a frequent mistake. An RGBCCT strip needs six channels: Red, Green, Blue, Warm White, Cool White, and a common positive (V+). A standard RGBW controller only has five outputs and can't control the two white channels independently to tune the color temperature. You need a dedicated RGBCCT controller designed to handle all six pins correctly.

Brightness depends on the LED density and power draw. Always check the lumens-per-meter (lm/m) rating on the spec sheet.

It's all about aesthetics for when the lights are off. A black PCB is designed to blend into dark surfaces. Think home theater ceiling coves, dark-stained wood cabinets, or black retail shelving. On a white ceiling, you'd use a white PCB so the strip itself is less visible. The performance and light output of the strip are exactly the same, it's just a cosmetic choice.

Yes, that's what they're designed for. You'll see small copper pads marking the cut lines, typically every 33mm to 83mm depending on the strip's voltage and density. Just make sure the power is completely disconnected, then cut with sharp scissors. You can then solder wires to the pads or use the correct 6-pin solderless connectors to make your connections. Only if you buy the correct IP-rated version. A standard IP20 strip is for indoor use only and will fail quickly outside. For a covered porch, you might use an IP65 version with a silicone coating. But for direct exposure to rain, sprinklers, or poolside splashes, you must use an IP67 silicone-tube or a fully potted IP68 submersible strip. Mismatching the IP rating is a guaranteed way to have a failed installation.

They represent different generations of control technology. The key difference for an installer is that the newer WS2805 IC supports 'breakpoint resume'. This is a huge advantage. If a single LED or section fails on a WS2805 strip, the data signal will automatically skip over the dead part to the next section. The rest of your strip will continue to work perfectly. On an older WS2811 strip, one failed IC can stop the data signal, causing the rest of the strip to go dark.

Both give you a perfectly seamless line of light, which is the main benefit of COB. The choice comes down to the look you want. A standard RGBCW COB LED strip provides direct light with a wide 180-degree beam angle, perfect for hidden architectural lighting. An RGBCCT COB NeonFlex strip is encased in a thick silicone diffuser, which creates the soft, uniform glow of traditional neon.

It doesn't have to be a fancy CAD file; a photo of a hand-drawn plan works fine. We'll send back a complete parts list, wiring diagram, and a quote, usually within 12 hours. You can, but not directly. The strip itself doesn't have WiFi or Zigbee. You need a controller that acts as a bridge. You connect our RGBCCT COB strip to a Zigbee-compatible controller, and then you add that controller to your Philips Hue or other smart home hub. We stock several controllers from brands like Miboxer and SkyDance that are designed specifically for this purpose.

A well-installed strip should give you 50,000 hours of service. The single biggest factor that determines lifespan is heat management. LEDs don't like heat. If you install a high-output RGBCCT strip in an enclosed space with no air circulation, it will degrade much faster. For maximum life, especially with the brighter models, always mount the strip in an aluminum channel. The metal acts as a heat sink, pulling damaging heat away from the chips.
