The important thing to remember is that the TM1814 is an *external* IC, meaning one chip controls a small group of LEDs. You can only cut on the designated line between these groups.
You'll destroy it, instantly. Over-voltage is the fastest way to kill an LED strip. The components are rated for a specific voltage, and doubling it will burn out the LEDs and the ICs immediately. The damage is permanent. Always, always, always double-check that your power supply voltage matches your strip's voltage before you plug anything in. The IP rating tells you how well the strip is protected from solids (like dust) and liquids (water). IP20 is the standard for indoor, dry locations—it has no water protection. You can connect as many as you want from a data perspective, as long as your controller can handle the total pixel count. The real limit is power. You'll need to re-inject power from your power supply roughly every 5 meters (16.4 ft) to avoid voltage drop. Don't try to power a 10-meter run from just one end.
