Neopixels Ring & Addressable LEDs
54 productsUnlike standard addressable LED strips designed for linear runs, this category contains the fundamental building blocks: individual addressable LEDs and pre-assembled pixel LED boards like rings, sticks, and matrices. These are the components for creating unique shapes, custom PC mods, cosplay props, or compact status indicators where every single pixel needs independent color and brightness control.
Most of these LED neopixel components run on DC5V, which is perfect for integrating with microcontrollers like an Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi.
For larger, high-density installations, addressable LED panels offer a seamless, grid-based solution that allows you to render vibrant graphics, custom animations, and full-matrix visual displays with pixel-perfect accuracy.
For scalable accent lighting and creative contouring, individually pixel LED string lights provide a flexible, modular alternative—offering dynamic 360-degree illumination and weather-resistant durability that pre-assembled boards and rigid LEDs cannot achieve in large-scale outdoor or architectural setups.

Frequently Asked Questions About Neopixel Rings & Addressable LEDs
Got a question about getting your addressable LED project wired up? I've answered thousands of them over the years. Here are the most common ones that come up right before an order.
It's all about control. With a regular RGB strip, all the LEDs are one big circuit — the whole strip has to be the same color at the same time. Addressable LEDs, like the Neopixels here, have a tiny microchip for every single LED. This means you can tell each one what color and brightness to be, all on a single data wire. That's how you get those flowing rainbow effects, chaser patterns, and complex animations.
They're very similar but have key differences. The WS2812B is the classic, but if one chip dies, the rest of the strip after it goes dark. The SK6812 is often a drop-in replacement, but with slightly better PWM frequency and it also comes in an RGBW variant, giving you a true white channel. The WS2813 is a big step up in reliability; it has a backup data line, so if one chip fails, the signal just skips over it to the next one. You can read more in our guide to WS2812B and its cousins.
Absolutely, this is a perfect application for a DIY mirror with LED lights. You can use individual chips like the SK6812 RGBW spaced out, or use a pre-made Neopixel ring if the mirror is round. The individual control lets you create startup animations, tune the exact white temperature you want for makeup, or even have it change colors based on notifications from a smart home hub. It's a very popular DIY LED strip lights project.
When comparing LEDs vs incandescent bulbs, it's no contest on efficiency and lifespan. LEDs use a tiny fraction of the power and last tens of thousands of hours. For pure lighting quality, an incandescent has a perfect color rendering index (CRI) of 100. High-quality LEDs get very close, in the 90-95 CRI range. For decorative and effect lighting like this, though, the flexibility and control of addressable LEDs are in a completely different league.
Yes, you need some kind of brain to tell the LEDs what to do. These aren't plug-and-play lights. An Arduino is probably the most common choice and is fantastic for dedicated lighting projects. A Raspberry Pi is a full computer, so it's a better fit if you want to control the lights over a network or have them react to complex inputs. There are also many dedicated, off-the-shelf addressable LED controllers that come with pre-programmed effects you can control with a remote or app.
It's possible, but usually not a direct swap. If you're looking for something like a 'replacement board 10w led module with integrated driver', that's a self-contained AC-powered unit. Our addressable chips are low-voltage DC components that need a separate power supply and a microcontroller. You could gut the old fixture and install a Neopixel ring and controller inside, but you'd need to re-do the wiring from scratch. It's a great DIY project, just not a simple part replacement.
