Product Information

The DMXRGB-TM512-5050X84 is a direct-drive 24V DMX512 addressable RGB LED strip light engineered for stage, architectural, and dynamic chasing lighting projects. Equipped with the external TM512BC IC, this LED strip decodes native DMX512 differential signals directly without requiring intermediate DMX decoders on each run.

Each TM512BC driver IC manages 6 SMD5050 LEDs across 3 DMX channels (Red, Green, Blue), establishing 14 addressable pixel segments per meter with an exact 71.42mm cut interval. Operating at DC 24V with an electrical consumption of 20W/m (200W per continuous 10-meter reel), it resolves typical low-voltage drop limitations across lengthy installations.

Connect directly to an ArtNet DMX controller for frame-accurate timeline synchronization, map dynamic matrix effects, or match it inside a silicone neon diffuser to create dot-free architectural linear runs. Pairs cleanly with a dedicated Mean Well 24V power supply to safeguard against ripple noise and transient spikes on the digital signal line.

Key Features

Native DMX512 Differential Bus

Utilizes onboard TM512BC driver ICs to read standard DMX512 signals directly via balanced differential data lines, eliminating external signal converters.

24V Extended 10-Meter Reel

Engineered as a 10-meter continuous reel running on DC 24V, minimizing voltage drop issues found in conventional 5V or 12V addressable pixel installations.

Precise Pixel Resolution

Features 84 SMD5050 RGB LEDs per meter grouped into 14 independently addressable pixels per meter (6 LEDs per pixel) with cut points every 71.42mm.

Versatile Connector Terminations

Standard termination comes with 5-pin JST-SM connectors (DC+, PI/Write, Data+, Data-, GND), with optional factory-soldered waterproof IP67 connectors or bare wires.

Standard DMX Console Integration

Compatible with standard DMX consoles, stage lighting desks, and software controllers when paired with our catalog of RGB DMX LED tape drivers.

Application Scenarios

Stage and Touring Pixel Chasing LightingUse this dmx addressable rgb led strip 24v on stage backdrops, truss perimeters, and theater prosceniums. Because it receives native differential DMX data lines, you can run extended control runs directly from lighting consoles without line dropouts or jitter.
Architectural Facade and Building ContoursIdeal 24v rgb led strip light dmx controllable solution for outlining building contours, roof lines, and interior atriums. The 10-meter single-reel capability minimizes inter-run wire clutter, enabling fluid chasing, waves, and pulse animations along structural edges.
Nightclub and Hospitality Matrix AccentsMount inside bar alcoves, dance floor borders, and ceiling grids. With 14 pixels per meter and vibrant SMD5050 diodes, lighting programmers can craft complex sound-to-light visual patterns, smooth color washes, and strobes synced over DMX512 software.

How to Install & Use This LED Strip

  1. Inspect the full 10m LED strip reel before installation. Connect the 5-pin input connector to your DC 24V power supply and DMX source to verify color output across all 140 pixel segments.
  2. Measure the exact mounting span. If cut-to-length is needed, cut only across the indicated copper pad markings spaced precisely at 71.42mm intervals. Never cut through diodes or IC chips.
  3. Wire the 5-pin leads correctly: DC 24V (Black), PI/Address Write (Green), Data+ (Red), Data- (Blue), and GND (White). Connect Data+ and Data- to the corresponding DMX output terminals.
  4. Use a dedicated DMX address coder to write start addresses via the PI line if custom universe indexing is required, then connect power from the 24V driver to run your dynamic programming.

⚠ Precautions

  • Power injection: While 24V allows a full 10-meter run without severe color shift, inject 24V DC power at both ends of the 10m LED strip if all diodes will run at 100% full-white brightness continuously.
  • IP rating verification: The standard variant is IP20 rated for dry indoor installations only. Use IP67-rated waterproof versions or sealed silicone tubing for damp or outdoor locations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: how to control rgb led strip with DMX

A: This LED strip contains TM512BC chips that receive direct DMX512 protocol. Connect the Data+ and Data- lines directly to the output ports of any standard DMX512 console, stage lighting desk, or ArtNet-to-DMX node without needing intermediary SPI decoders.

Q: how to control rgb led colors accurately

A: Colors are controlled by adjusting the 0-255 DMX value across the 3 consecutive channels (Red, Green, Blue) assigned to each 71.42mm pixel segment using DMX lighting software such as Madrix, Resolume, or physical lighting consoles.

Q: What power supply do I need for this 10-meter reel?

A: At 20W per meter, a full 10-meter continuous reel consumes 200W at full output. Accounting for an electrical safety margin of 20%, we recommend pairing this reel with a 24V power supply rated at 240W or higher.

LED Strip Light Guide

Common questions about this type of product, answered against this model’s own options. For full figures see the specification above or the spec sheet for this model.

Which controller does this LED strip light need?
Addressable LED strip lights take a data signal, so they need an SPI (pixel) controller that supports this IC — an ordinary RGB controller will not drive them. Data flows one way: connect the controller to the input end marked with the arrow. Wiring addressable LED strip lights
Do I need power injection?
5 V addressable LED strip lights lose voltage fastest, so longer runs need power fed in at both ends and at intervals along the run; 12 V and 24 V versions carry further. Keep the data line short between controller and first pixel. Choosing an addressable LED strip light
Which waterproof rating should I choose?
Available on this model: Outdoor Silicone Tube IP67 - Adhesive Back · Non-Waterproof IP20 - Adhesive Back. IP20 is for dry indoor use, IP65 handles splashes, IP67 suits outdoor and wet areas, IP68 is for continuous submersion. Choosing a waterproof rating
Can I cut it to length?
Yes. Cut only on the marked cut lines between the copper pads — the cut interval for this model is on its spec sheet. Rejoin with solder or a solderless connector. Connector options on this model: 5-pin 15CM Waterproof Wires · 5-pin Waterproof Fast Connectors · 5-pin JST Connectors. Cutting LED strip lights · we can also cut to length and fit your connector before shipping: custom LED strip light assembly.
What size power supply do I need?
Take the watts per metre from the specification above, multiply by the length you are running, then add about 25% headroom. Power calculation guide · Choosing a power supply
Will it fit an aluminium profile, and how dense are the LEDs?
PCB width 12mm (0.47in). Choose a profile whose inner width is at least the PCB width; denser LEDs give a smoother line close to a diffuser. LED aluminium profiles
