Product Information

This 24V digital RGB LED strip light utilizes external TM512BC driver chips to interface with native DMX512 control systems without separate sub-decoders. Engineered for architectural chases, stage production, and commercial facade lighting, each 10-meter continuous reel integrates 60 SMD5050 RGB LEDs per meter across a 12mm wide white flexible printed circuit board.

Every TM512BC IC independently regulates 6 LEDs (1 pixel per 100mm) using 3 discrete DMX address channels, producing clean color gradients and pixel-mapped sequencing. The default setup includes 5-pin JST-SM connectors on input and output ends for immediate plug-and-play linking, with optional IP67 screw-locking waterproof connectors and silicone housing configurations available for damp or wet environments.

Key Features of the DMX512 RGB LED Strip

Direct DMX512 Signal Protocol

Receives standard differential DMX512 (A/B) data directly onto the PCB, pairing directly with an ArtNet DMX controller without SPI-to-DMX intermediary converters.

External TM512BC Driver IC

Equipped with 10 external TM512BC IC chips per meter, assigning 3 DMX channels per 6-LED group to deliver 10 individually controllable pixels per meter.

24V DC Extended 10-Meter Run

24V operation minimizes current draw and reduces voltage drop, allowing full 10-meter single-feed runs when energized by a regulated 24V Mean Well power supply.

Standard 5-Pin JST Connections

Equipped with factory 5-pin JST-SM connectors (V+, PI/Address write, DMX+, DMX-, GND), and readily extended with matched 5-pin connector cables.

Even Neon Diffusion Compatibility

Mounts directly inside a 12mm silicone neon diffuser to convert bare point-source diodes into continuous, dotless color-chasing neon lines.

Flexible 100mm Cut Intervals

Clear cut marks spaced every 100mm (6 LEDs) let you tailor exact segment lengths on site without damaging upstream or downstream DMX addressing.

Technical Highlights and Engineering Details

  • Native DMX512 communication enables transmission rates of 250 kbps, sustaining refresh frequencies suitable for high-speed camera capture without flicker.
  • External TM512BC architecture separates the driver IC package from the SMD5050 LED heat sink, increasing thermal dissipation across the 2oz double-sided copper PCB.
  • Differential signal lines (DMX+ and DMX-) run alongside an integrated address-writing line (PI) for automated batch DMX address programming using an external address coder.

Application Scenarios for DMX Controlled RGB LED Tape

Stage, Studio, and Live Concert LightingIntegrate directly into touring truss grids and stage sets via standard DMX512 consoles. The direct DMX protocol removes the need for individual SPI decoders, reducing rack equipment volume and simplifying pixel-mapped chasing effects.
Commercial Building Facade and Perimeter AccentDeploy long architectural lines with continuous 10-meter runs on exterior structures. The 24V architecture preserves uniform color output across long distances for building contours, bridges, and facade outlines when paired with IP67 housing.
Nightclub, Lounge, and Hospitality AmbianceConstruct dynamic perimeter chases, geometric ceiling grids, and bar counter backlighting driven by programmable LED controllers. The 10-pixel-per-meter density provides fluid motion graphics synchronized to music and scene cues.
Theme Park and Entertainment Venue AttractionsInstall within dark rides, attraction queues, and interactive exhibits requiring synchronized lighting playback. The TM512BC external driver maintains stable signal integrity over long line topologies in high-electrical-noise environments.

How to Install & Use This LED Strip

  1. Inspect and bench-test the 10-meter LED strip light before unrolling or mounting, verifying that all DMX channels and RGB diodes respond to your controller.
  2. Write the starting DMX address using a dedicated handheld or software-based DMX address programmer connected to the PI address-writing line.
  3. Measure installation runs and, if necessary, cut the LED strip strictly along the marked copper solder pads located every 100mm.
  4. Terminate connections using the 5-pin JST-SM plugs or solder 5-conductor lead wires to the DC24V, PI, DMX+, DMX-, and GND solder pads, observing polarity.
  5. Apply power from a regulated 24V DC driver and route DMX signal lines into your lighting console or distribution node to begin programming.

⚠ Precautions

  • Do not exceed a 10-meter continuous run from a single power injection point; install parallel DC24V power feeds for runs extending past 10 meters to prevent voltage drop and thermal strain on PCB traces.
  • Ensure the DC power supply capacity provides at least 20% electrical headroom above the total strip wattage (144W strip load requires a minimum 175W to 200W driver).
  • Maintain proper signal line polarities: DMX+ and DMX- must connect correctly across the entire run; reversing differential lines will interrupt DMX communication.

LED Strip Light Guide

Common questions about this type of product, answered against this model’s own options. For full figures see the specification above or the spec sheet for this model.

Which controller does this LED strip light need?
Addressable LED strip lights take a data signal, so they need an SPI (pixel) controller that supports this IC — an ordinary RGB controller will not drive them. Data flows one way: connect the controller to the input end marked with the arrow. Wiring addressable LED strip lights
Do I need power injection?
5 V addressable LED strip lights lose voltage fastest, so longer runs need power fed in at both ends and at intervals along the run; 12 V and 24 V versions carry further. Keep the data line short between controller and first pixel. Choosing an addressable LED strip light
Which waterproof rating should I choose?
Available on this model: Outdoor Silicone Tube IP67 - Adhesive Back · Non-Waterproof IP20 - Adhesive Back. IP20 is for dry indoor use, IP65 handles splashes, IP67 suits outdoor and wet areas, IP68 is for continuous submersion. Choosing a waterproof rating
Can I cut it to length?
Yes. Cut only on the marked cut lines between the copper pads — the cut interval for this model is on its spec sheet. Rejoin with solder or a solderless connector. Connector options on this model: 5-pin 15CM Waterproof Wires · 5-pin Waterproof Fast Connectors · 5-pin JST Connectors. Cutting LED strip lights · we can also cut to length and fit your connector before shipping: custom LED strip light assembly.
What size power supply do I need?
Take the watts per metre from the specification above, multiply by the length you are running, then add about 25% headroom. Power calculation guide · Choosing a power supply
Will it fit an aluminium profile, and how dense are the LEDs?
PCB width 12mm (0.47in). Choose a profile whose inner width is at least the PCB width; denser LEDs give a smoother line close to a diffuser. LED aluminium profiles
