FAQ About Our Brightest LED Tape Lights

Got questions before you spec the job? We've got answers based on more than a decade of installs. Here's what comes up most often.

It comes down to three things: LED chip size, density, and power. Our brightest LED tape lights use larger, high-output chips like the 5630 or high-density COB designs. We pack more of them onto the board per meter, often in multiple rows—two, four, even six across. Finally, we drive them with a higher wattage to get maximum lumen output. It’s a combination of better parts and more of them. You can learn more in our guide on choosing the right LED brightness.

It's a different way of measuring, but we can compare the output. A classic 100-watt incandescent bulb puts out about 1600 lumens. Many of our brightest LED strip lights exceed that per meter. For example, our quad-row 2835 strip can hit over 5000 lumens per meter. So a single 3-foot section can easily outshine a 100W bulb and spread the light much more evenly.

Yes. High-power LED strips produce serious heat, and without a heat sink, the LEDs will degrade and fail prematurely. The channel's job is to pull that heat away from the chip. Think of it as insurance for your lights. We stock over 700 different aluminum LED channels to fit any job.

Absolutely. This is a core use for our high-output strips. I'd recommend looking at our multi-row white strips, especially the ones pushing 3000-5000 lumens per meter. A couple of parallel runs of that inside a wide channel will give you bright, even, shadow-free light that's perfect for task work. It'll be a massive upgrade from a few lonely bulbs.

For a perfect, seamless line of light with no spotting, Flexible COB LED strips are the definite winner. The chip-on-board design creates one continuous light source. Our highest-density SMD strips get very close, especially inside a frosted channel, but COB technology is the guaranteed way to eliminate hot spots, even in very shallow profiles.

You can definitely cut them, but only on the marked cut lines, which you'll see on the circuit board, usually with a little scissor icon. On these wider, multi-row strips, the cut points are often spaced farther apart than on a standard strip. To rejoin them, you'll need snap-on connectors that are specifically designed for the PCB width and pin count of your strip.

Yes, we do this every day. Just send us a sketch or a description with the exact length you need, the lead wire length, and the type of connector you want. An engineer here will send you back a complete wiring diagram and a quote, usually within 12 hours. There's no fee for the help and no obligation to order.
