5730 SMD Flexible LED Strip Lights

When you need maximum brightness from a single-color strip, the 5730 SMD Flexible LED Strip Light is our top performer. The name comes from the chip size: 5.7mm x 3.0mm. That larger surface area allows it to be driven harder than its predecessor, the 5630 LED strip series, and significantly harder than the classic 5050 chip. A single 5730 LED typically outputs 24-26 lumens, making it one of the brightest individual SMD LEDs available for flexible linear led lighting.

5730 vs 5630 vs 5050: Which LED strip is actually brighter?
The numbers don't lie. While all three are great chips, the 5730 is engineered specifically for high-lumen applications. Here are the key 5730 LED specs compared to its closest relatives, which helps clarify why it's a top choice for the brightest LED tape light.

What are 5730 SMD LED modules used for?
Beyond flexible strips, you'll find the 5730 chip in our SMD LED modules. These are small, rigid PCBs, often waterproof and wired in strings, designed for commercial signage and backlighting channel letters. A module led smd 5730 provides intense, even light that makes signs pop. Perfect for creating a flexible led sign with uniform illumination.
Frequently Asked Questions About 5730 SMD LED Strip Lights
Got questions before you order? I've answered thousands of them over the years. Here are the most common ones for our high-brightness 5730 strips.
Yes, absolutely. These 5730 SMD flexible LED strip lights are our brightest single-color option, and that brightness generates significant heat. Without a heatsink, the LEDs will overheat, their lifespan will drop dramatically, and they can even discolor the surface they're mounted on. It's not a suggestion, it's a requirement for any long-term installation. Any of our aluminum channels will do the job.
They're very similar in performance, and sometimes the terms are used interchangeably by manufacturers. The 5730 chip (5.7mm x 3.0mm) has a slightly larger luminous area and heat dissipation base than the 5630 (5.6mm x 3.0mm), which generally allows it to be driven for higher brightness and better stability. For new projects, we specify 5730 as it's the current standard for this high-power class.
You'll need to calculate the total wattage. Check the product page for the strip's wattage per meter (or foot). Multiply that by the total length of your run, then add a 20% buffer for safety and efficiency. For example, a 5-meter strip at 20W/meter is 100W total. You'd need at least a 120W driver. Don't skip that 20% headroom—it's the most common reason for power supply failure. Our guide explains how to wire them correctly.
It's normal for a high-output 5730 LED tape light to feel warm, but it should never be too hot to touch comfortably. All LEDs convert some electricity into heat. If it's getting excessively hot, it's almost always because it's not mounted on an aluminum profile to act as a heatsink. This excess heat will shorten the LED's life from 50,000 hours down to just a few thousand.
Yes, we stock high-voltage strips that run directly on AC power. However, for outdoor use, you should really be looking at IP67, not IP65. An IP65 rating is only protected against light jets of water, not heavy rain or puddles. Our IP67 high-voltage strips come in a protective silicone tube. So if you need an smd led 220v ip65 or better for outside, go for the IP67 version to be safe.
With a high-power 24V 5730 SMD flexible LED strip, you can typically run a single 5-meter (16.4 ft) reel from one power connection without seeing significant voltage drop. If you need a longer continuous run, say 10 meters, you should power it from the center or run a parallel power wire to feed both ends. This ensures the LEDs at the end of the strip are just as bright as the ones near the power supply.
They're primarily designed for backlighting signs and channel letters, where their intense, focused light is perfect. The modules come pre-wired in strings for easy layout. You could use them for under-cabinet lighting, but a flexible strip inside an aluminum channel will give you a much cleaner, more uniform line of light without hotspots. For kitchens, stick with the strips.
A CCT strip has three connection points: one for warm white, one for cool white, and a common positive (+). You'll need a 3-pin connector and a power supply with enough wattage for the strip's maximum output. To control the color temperature, you'll wire it to one of our dedicated CCT dimmers. This lets you blend the warm and cool LEDs to get any white shade in between.
This is a critical difference from low-voltage strips. High-voltage AC strips have much larger cut increments, often every 50cm or even 1 meter (about 20 or 39 inches). The cut marks are clearly printed on the strip. Cutting anywhere else will damage a large section of the strip and is extremely dangerous. Always use the designated special high-voltage connectors and end caps to seal your cuts.
Yes, building to spec is a huge part of what we do. We can supply 5730 strips cut to specific lengths with lead wires pre-soldered, on different PCB widths, or even with a specific bin of CCT for perfect color consistency across multiple reels. Just send us your requirements—a sketch on a napkin is fine. An engineer will reply within 12 hours with a full wiring diagram and a quote. There's no fee for this, and no obligation to order.
An ultra-narrow 4mm 5730 SMD flexible LED strip light is a specialty item for when you need high brightness in a very tight space. Think jewelry display cases, model making, architectural accents in tiny grooves, or backlighting narrow acrylic edges. Its slim profile, like our 4mm 5730 strip, allows it to fit where standard 8mm or 10mm strips can't, without sacrificing too much output.
Not necessarily. While a higher density of LEDs, like 120 per meter versus 60, will produce a brighter and more uniform line of light, it also means higher power consumption and more heat. For indirect cove lighting, 60 LEDs/m is often plenty bright. For direct view applications or task lighting where you need maximum intensity, the 120 LEDs/m version is the better choice. It's about matching the strip's density to your specific application.
