How to Install & Use This Power Repeater

  1. Ensure the main power is off before beginning installation.
  2. Connect the output from your master RGB LED controller to the 'Signal IN' terminals of the LT-3060-8A. Ensure correct polarity (R, G, B, and V+).
  3. Connect a separate, appropriately sized DC power supply to the 'Power IN' terminals (V- and V+). The power supply voltage must match the voltage of your LED strips (e.g., 24V).
  4. Connect the next segment of your RGB LED strips to the 'OUTPUT' terminals. Again, ensure correct polarity (R, G, B, and V+).
  5. Double-check all wiring connections are secure in the power terminal blocks.
  6. Power on the system. The LED strips connected to the repeater should now perfectly mimic the color and brightness of the strips connected to the master controller.
⚠ Precautions
  • Always use a power supply with a voltage that matches your LED strips (e.g., use a 24V power supply for 24V strips).
  • Do not exceed the maximum load of 8A per channel or 24A total. Calculate your LED strip's total amperage to ensure it is within this limit.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the amplifier to allow for heat dissipation.
  • This unit amplifies a PWM signal; it is not a DMX decoder or a standalone controller.

Q: What is the purpose of an LED power repeater?

A:An LED power repeater (or signal amplifier) boosts the control signal from your main controller, allowing you to run much longer lengths of LED strips or connect more lights than the controller could handle alone. It prevents voltage drop issues like dimming and color shifting at the end of a long run.

Q: How many amplifiers can I chain together?

A:In theory, you can daisy-chain multiple amplifiers to extend your lighting installation almost indefinitely, as long as each amplifier has its own dedicated power supply appropriately sized for the LED strips it's driving.

Q: Is this compatible with my existing RGB controller?

A:Yes, the LT-3060-8A is compatible with virtually any constant voltage PWM-based RGB LED controller. It simply takes the signal from your controller and amplifies it.

Q: What size power supply do I need for this amplifier?

A:The power supply should be sized for the LED strips connected to the amplifier's output, not the amplifier itself. Calculate the total wattage of your LED strips and choose a power supply with at least 20% higher capacity.

Q: Can I use this for three separate single-color LED strips?

A:Yes. You can connect three separate single-color strips, one to each channel (R, G, B). They will all dim together based on the corresponding channel signal from your master controller.
