How to Install & Use This Power Repeater
- Step 1: Disconnect Power - Before starting, ensure the main power supply to your lighting system is completely turned off.
- Step 2: Connect Power Supply - Wire the DC output from a separate power supply to the 'POWER IN' (V+, V-) screw terminals on the EV3-X. The power supply voltage must match your LED strips.
- Step 3: Connect Controller Signal - Connect the R, G, B, and V+ output terminals from your main LED controller to the corresponding 'SIGNAL IN' terminals on the repeater.
- Step 4: Connect Additional LED Strips - Wire the next segment of your RGB LED strips to the 'OUTPUT' (R, G, B, V+) terminals on the repeater.
- Step 5: Cascade Repeaters (Optional) - To power even more lights, connect the 'SIGNAL IN' of a second repeater to the 'OUTPUT' of the first. Remember, each repeater requires its own dedicated power supply.
- Step 6: Power On and Test - Once all connections are secure, restore power to the system. All connected LED strips should now respond synchronously to your main controller's commands.
- Always use a power supply with a voltage that matches your LED strips (e.g., a 24V power supply for 24V strips).
- The power supply connected to the repeater must be rated to handle the total load of the additional LED strips. Do not exceed the 10A per channel or 30A total limit.
- Ensure correct polarity is observed for all connections (+ to +, - to -) to prevent damage to your equipment.

Q: What is a power repeater and why do I need one?
A:A power repeater boosts the signal and power for long runs of LED strips. It solves issues like voltage drop, which causes color shifting, dimming, and flickering at the far end of a long strip. To better understand how voltage drop works, check out our detailed guides.
Q: Can I use this with a single color or RGBW LED strip?
A:This EV3-X model is specifically designed for 3-channel RGB strips. For other types, you would need a different amplifier, such as one of our single-channel models for monochrome strips or our 4-channel amplifiers for RGBW strips.
Q: How many EV3-X repeaters can I connect together?
A:You can cascade a theoretically unlimited number of repeaters in series or parallel. The key is that each individual repeater must be powered by its own appropriately sized DC power supply.
Q: Does this repeater come with a power supply?
A:No, a power supply is not included. The repeater's function is to inject fresh power into the lighting run, so it requires its own dedicated DC power supply, which should be sized to handle the load of the LED strips it will be driving.
Q: Why can't I just use a bigger power supply with my main controller?
A:A larger power supply at the start of the run cannot prevent the voltage from dropping over the physical length of the copper in the LED strip. A repeater is installed down the line to boost both the signal and the voltage from a new power source, ensuring the next segment has full power.
Q: Will this work with my 5V RGB LED strips?
A:Yes, the EV3-X features a wide operating range of DC 5V to 24V, making it fully compatible with 5V, 12V, and 24V constant voltage RGB LED strips.
Q: My power strip light is flickering, will this fix it?
