Product Information

The Ltech LT-842 is a high-performance signal converter designed to bridge the gap between modern digital lighting controls and analog dimmable fixtures. It expertly translates DMX512/RDM and PUSH DIM input signals into two channels of 0-10V and two channels of 10V PWM output. This dual-output capability makes it exceptionally versatile for integrating various types of luminaires into a unified control system.

Operating on a wide 100-240V AC input, the LT-842 is suitable for global applications without requiring an external power adapter. Its support for RDM (Remote Device Management) simplifies setup and configuration in complex installations, making it an ideal choice for professional architectural, commercial, and high-end residential lighting projects requiring precise and reliable dimming control.

Key Features

Multi-Protocol Input

Accepts both DMX512/RDM and PUSH DIM signals, providing flexible control options for any project.

Hybrid Signal Output

Features two channels of 0-10V and two channels of 10V PWM output to control a wide range of analog dimmable drivers.

Universal AC Input

Operates directly on 100-240V AC power, simplifying installation and eliminating the need for a separate power supply.

Precision Dimming

Delivers smooth, flicker-free dimming across a wide range from 0.1% to 100% for fine-tuned lighting ambiance.

RDM Compatibility

Supports Remote Device Management for easy DMX address setting and device configuration from a compatible master controller.

Application Scenarios

Architectural Lighting Integration Seamlessly connect sophisticated DMX lighting control systems to architectural fixtures that rely on 0-10V or PWM dimmable drivers. Ideal for creating dynamic scenes in building facades, lobbies, museums, and conference rooms.
Commercial & Hospitality Venues Integrate specialty lighting with analog dimming into a centralized DMX network for hotels, restaurants, and retail showrooms. The LT-842 allows for both complex automated scenes and simple manual control via PUSH DIM for staff.
Advanced Home Automation Use the PUSH DIM function for simple, intuitive wall switch control of multiple lighting zones in a smart home. Retain the ability to override with a master DMX controller for whole-home scenes and advanced automation routines.

How to Install & Configure the LT-842 Signal Converter

  1. Ensure all power is disconnected before beginning installation.
  2. Connect the 100-240V AC power source to the L (Live) and N (Neutral) input terminals.
  3. For DMX control, wire the signal output from your DMX controller to the DMX input terminals on the LT-842.
  4. For manual control, connect a normally open, non-latching momentary switch to the PUSH DIM input terminals.
  5. Wire the 0-10V output channels to the corresponding signal inputs on your 0-10V dimmable LED drivers.
  6. Wire the 10V PWM output channels to the signal inputs on your PWM-compatible drivers.
  7. If using DMX, configure the device's address using an RDM-enabled master controller.
  8. Restore power and test the dimming functionality with your chosen control method.
⚠ Precautions
  • This device is a signal converter, not a power supply. It does not provide power to your LED fixtures.
  • Always verify that the output signal type (0-10V or 10V PWM) matches the requirements of your connected LED drivers.
  • Ensure correct polarity for all signal connections to prevent damage.
  • Do not use DMX and PUSH DIM inputs simultaneously. DMX signal takes priority if both are connected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the primary function of the LT-842 converter?

A:It translates digital lighting control signals like DMX/RDM or a simple push-button signal into analog 0-10V and 10V PWM signals, which are used to dim many types of LED drivers.

Q: Can I use both DMX and PUSH DIM inputs at the same time?

A:No, you should only use one input method at a time. If both are connected, the DMX signal will take priority over the PUSH DIM input.

Q: What is the difference between the 0-10V and 10V PWM outputs?

A:They are two different analog dimming standards. 0-10V is common in commercial drivers, while PWM is used by others. Check your LED driver's specifications to determine which signal it requires.

Q: Does this converter power my LED lights?

A:No, the LT-842 is a signal converter only. It tells your separate LED power supply or driver how to dim the lights. You still need a compatible LED driver to power your fixtures.

Q: Is this device compatible with RDM?

A:Yes, it supports RDM (Remote Device Management), which allows you to set the DMX address and configure the device remotely from an RDM-enabled DMX controller.

Q: Can I control four separate 0-10V lighting channels with this device?

A:No, this model provides two dedicated 0-10V output channels and two dedicated 10V PWM output channels. The output signal type for each channel is fixed.

Q: What kind of switch is needed for the PUSH DIM function?

A:You must use a normally open (N.O.), non-latching momentary push-button switch for the PUSH DIM feature to work correctly.
