Breakpoint Resume (Dual-Data) LED Strips FAQ
Breakpoint Resume is a fail-safe technology designed to increase the reliability of your pixel lighting project. In a single-data addressable LED strip, if one LED chip fails, the data signal breaks, causing all subsequent LEDs to go dark. With Breakpoint Resume, the strip utilizes a backup circuitry path. If a single pixel (LED) burns out or malfunctions, the signal automatically bypasses the bad pixel and continues to the next one. This ensures the rest of your strip remains lit and fully functional.
Yes. While basic addressable LED strips (like WS2812B, WS2811) rely on a single data line, SuperLightingLED™ Breakpoint Resume Series utilizes two parallel lines: DI (Data In) - the primary signal line, BI (Backup In) - the redundant signal line. This dual-line architecture is what allows the signal to “resume” after a break, making these light strips essential for commercial installations.
The key point lies in whether the second wire serves as a backup data line or a clock function (to dictate the timing speed of the data transfer). Typically, we refer to breakpoint-continuous LED strips as dual-data signals. Data LED strips with a clock wire are more accurately termed clock-line SPI LED strips.
All SuperLightingLED™ Dual Data light strips offer the backup signal feature, the differences lie in the number of pixels per unit length, the number of LEDs, operating voltage, maximum operational length, etc. For DIY & open source coding (Arduino/FastLED/WLED): we recommend the 12V WS2815 or 5V WS2813. For maximum run length: choose our 30-meter 24V TM1934 with minimal voltage drop on a dual-end power injection. If project reliability is paramount, choose the 12V GS8208 or 12V/24V GS8206. For signage & light boxes: choose our S-Shape (Zig-Zag) 12V SK6813, designed specifically to bend around corners for advertising text and logos.
Yes. All SuperLightingLED™ Dual Data LED strips are manufactured in segments. You can cut the strip at any designated copper solder pad. For our Ultra-Narrow or High-Density series (120+ LEDs/m), the pads are small; we strongly recommend soldering wires rather than using clip-on connectors to ensure a stable dual-signal connection.
Yes. Our ES-D(WT) Motion Sensor SPI Controller is specifically programmed to be compatible with GS8208 and GS8206 protocols. This combination is ideal for creating dynamic colored effects on stair treads and handrails that trigger when someone walks by.
Yes. If you need the seamless, dot-free look of COB combined with the reliability of Breakpoint Resume, SuperLightingLED™ offers two distinct models: WS2805 addressable RGBCCT COB model and TM1934 White Running Water COB model. We also support OEM/ODM mold opening if your project requires custom specifications.
